Some of you might remember when my feral, Tommy, was hit by a car this summer. I was sure he had been killed, especially when I couldn't find his body and no one had seen him. About 5 - 6 weeks ago I saw him hiding by the bird feeder in my back yard, looking very thin, but very much like my Tommy. I set up his feeding area, ordered a Kitty Tube for shelter and began putting food out for him at his "regular" time. He's been back every night to eat and is eating very well. He gets as much kitten kibble as he wants plus a can of Friskies pate (his favorite) mixed with a can of warm water. Most nights, he finishes the wet and eats a good amount of the kibble.

This week he has been showing up around 5:00,"hiding" by the bird feeders again. He watches me (and I don't act like I can see him) put out his dinner and, I'm guessing, then heads off to eat. His winter fur is thick and shiny and he looks like he's put weight on. It just warms my heart that he knows he is safe here. Unfortunately, his area is on the opposite side of the garage, since it's the most protected and sheltered, so I can't actually watch him.

Wanted to share with so many of you who were so kind when Tommy was hit this summer. He is truly my miracle boy and doing well. I know that ferals face a lot of dangers and don't usually live as long as indoor only cats, but as long as he is with me, I will do the very best I can do for him. And there's no doubt that I love him as much as my indoor girls.

I honestly believe that these feral cats are the toughest little creatures around. Breaks my heart that they have to be that way, though. But somehow, someway, they seem to come back from such awful accidents and incidences. It is a MIRACLE that Tommy is back. I am so elated for you as I do know how this tore you up inside last year with the car accident and he disappeared. We do love them :heart3: and take the best care possible for them. AWWWW TOMMY!!!!! WELCOME HOME!!!!!!! :rub: :heart4: :clap: :9:

Now I'm not sure it is Tommy. I just got a good look at the black cat walking through the yard, noticed some white on her chest and then saw her tipped ear. LUCY is back! She looks good and healthy. Now I don't know if they are both back or if I've been seeing her all this time. This is the first time I've seen the black cat visitor up close and in the daylight, so I just don't know. I don't think she's a true feral, but she made a choice when she pushed the screen out in the spring so I think I will let her be. I may change my mind later, but right now, I'm just so happy to see her looking so good. Perhaps Tommy didn't survive. This was most definitely Lucy today.
