In late 2004 my mom picked me up from elementary school, and she said she had a surprise for me. I've always wanted a kitten, so of course the first thing I said was, "Is it a kitty?!" My mom answered "No", but I knew she was lying. When we got home she told me the "surprise" was in my bedroom. Guess what I saw? In front of my closet door was a little cat carrier, and inside of it was the most adorable creature I've ever lay eyes on. It was a kitten!

She was only a few weeks old, and my mom told me her friend from work found this kitten and her brother sitting on her doorstep, meowing desperately for shelter from the pouring rain and food. Their mother was nowhere to be found, and both of the kittens had injuries. She took the female kitten to the store she and my mom worked at to find a good owner for her. My dad is allergic to cats, even though my parents had 3 cats before, so my mom didn't even think of taking her, although she was pretty cute. She was working at a cash register, and the kitten climbed up on to her shoulder, and sat there like a parrot would on a pirate's shoulder. Then my mom said "I guess I will take her home because she likes me." My dad wasn't too happy about this, but I sure was!

This kitten was tiny with gray and white fur with slightly darker gray stripes. Since she was still very young she had blue eyes like all kittens do, but later they turned a beautiful light green. She had a cut on her left hind leg, which was healing just fine. We decided to name her Amy, after my favorite singer Amy Lee from Evanescence.

I used to be kind of afraid of Amy because she would always attack my feet when I walked. She had a lot of energy, and loved to climb things. As she got older she started to relax, and we became best friends. Now she's like a daughter to me, and I think she believes I'm her mother. Sometimes she sleeps on the couch with me, or we watch movies together. A while ago we were watching horror movies, and she didn't get scared. She's actually really lazy, but that's fine because I'm also lazy. She's the perfect cat for me!

She's just turned 8 years old this September. In 2007, we thought she was getting lonely, so we got her a feline friend. We named him Tiger because he had stripes like a tiger's. He's brown with darker brown stripes and spots, and he was born with a crooked tail. He has bright yellow eyes. He's also quite lazy, so Amy and Tiger get along well. They like to sleep on my parents' bed.

They're so cute! I love my cats so much; some people call me "The Crazy Cat Lady".

She sleeps on the computer chair a lot. ehehehe
