My 15 year old cat is starting to lose weight these last few months. She still eats and drinks well and acts like her usual self. Only problem is that she can't see well and does have really bad arthritis. A few years back I took her to the vet to get her blood work done and everything came back normal and okay. But since then we have moved and downsized, and she has gone outside more than before. But at her age, cats do start to lose weight as a sign that she could be developing some illness? Could she? She has always been overweight and I have since been keeping an eye to make sure she is still eating and drinking. But what do you think it could mean? Could it be stress related? We live in a multicat household and we did just move 3 months ago. So I am nervous and worried about her...she has an appointment next month on the 1st so I will get her blood work done again then. It's been a few years since the last one and she is due for a checkup.

Can you get her into the vet a bit earlier? There are many things that cats can develop as they age that would cause a cat to lose weight, many quite treatable. However the sooner you start treatment the better. The first thing that came to mind was a thyroid issue.

Ditto thyroid or possibly diabetes?

Maybe call your vet and ask them if there is a cancellation, could they call you so you can get in sooner.
