What would cause a stinky ear?  I assume it could be infected because it is stinky?  But HOW, why?

Ya know what, after a closer sniffing, I am not convinced it is coming from his ear.  It smells more like the top of his head, but I don't see anythign there...?

Do you have multiple cats?  The top of the head seems to be an area where cats will lick each other.  If the licker had bad breath it could leave a smell behind.  (Bad breath is a warning sign of dental problems, by the way.)

Do you see anything in the ears?  If the smell persists I'd probably have a vet check the ears.

We do have multiple cats, and originally I thought that was it.  But, he hasn't been playing with her today because he's been in solitary confinement most of the day bc we are cooking and he gets into trouble.  he still stinks.

Take him to the vets.  They can look properly into his ears, see if there are ear mites (you will need to treat all your cats if there are) and treat whatever they find.

It could be something other than ear mites, but still need treating.  One of my cats had an awful smell, and he was already very sick, so I thought maybe he was more sick than I thought, but it was just an ear infection which went away quickly with medication.  Not sure what causes them, but a little ear ointment once a day did the trick.

It definitely isn't coming from his ear like I thought.  it is the top of his head. I'm going to wash him and see what happens.

Well??????  Is he still stinky?  (I can't imagine what would be causing the top of his head to stink unless it was right after someone with stinky breath licked him
)
