I know this has been asked before, but we have new members and I like to hear their stories. So, today's question is: How did you find TCS?

I found it in 2004 when Monster, my RB kitty, got into ant poison when she was a kitten. It was a Saturday night, and no vets here are open on the weekend, and I was freaking. At the time, I didn't realize what she got in to, I just knew she was drooling, staggering around and seemed out of it. Of course, the main advice I got was to go to the vet, which we did first thing Monday morning, but the support and comfort I got here was unreal! After the crisis was over, I came back and read through the site and the posts and educated myself. After a brief break while we were moving and building our house, I came back in 2007 and have been here ever since.

BTW...Monster came home after 3 days (and $500+ vet bill) and lived for another 7 years, but the poison damaged her brain and gave her seizures. The got to be too much and she passed away 12/24/11. But she had a good life and she knew she was loved, even when we were forcing her pills down her throat (I hope she knew that!).

I found this place when Jason was roughly 6 months old and I was concerned when one of his baby canines hadn't fallen out.  He had two canines right next to each other, it looked weird, and I was concerned.  The tooth did eventually fall out.  Shortly after this I found two young kittens who had been abandoned by the road near my house and I took them home.  They were really young seeming and I wanted to know how old they were, and then they had fleas and I wanted to know how to get rid of them.  They ended up going to live with my aunt and uncle in Kansas, and I thought all was well.  I was mistakenly under the impression that my uncle was not stupid, and my mom called me to tell me that Tibby was pregnant.  I was mad, and then it dawned on me that her brother was the only male that she had any access to, so incest kittens.

This was shortly after I graduated high school.  I didn't have any of my cats living with me until this August when Alafair came to live with me, and then I got Stella.  I haven't had a kitten in close to four years (when Jason was a baby), so I had some kitten-related questions!  Maybe I'll stay longer this time

I first found this place when my Molly :rbheart: was sick. I was a lurker then. When we adopted Abby she came with allergy issues and I ended up joining then.

My ex had a 15 year old cat, Tigger. She was losing weight, so we took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I came on here to find out more information about treatments and experiences. Tigger was on methimazole (sp?) pills for a little while - used to ASK for the pill pocket treats at 7am and 7pm everyday - she'd climb up on our laps and meow until we gave her them. Shortly after, we went with the I-131 treatment. Unfortunately, Tigger had complications due to fluid in her lungs that was not checked for before the procedure and crossed the bridge the day after receiving the injection. Her cage-mate was also a cat named Tigger, a 16yr old male in for the same thing.

I liked it here, so I stuck around. I've since adopted more kitties, and fostered some as well as taking care of ferals. Plus the lounge is a great place to pass the time, and I love SS season

I lurked here for a few years before ever posting. It was awhile after Banshee passed and I was having trouble dealing with her death.

I had been visiting a site where folks were captioning cat pics but they were having bad troll problems. So I went surfing for more cat pics I could ad my wit to :D and found TCS. I initially joined in late June but my first 5-6 months of posts were lost in the Great Crash of December 2004. :bawling2:

Hey, Calico2222. weren't you part of that group that had to rejoin, too?

When my RB kitty Bob developed liver failure, I was looking for any and all advice.  We had just lost our 6 year old Himalayan Belle about 7 weeks earlier, and I was scared to death.  The 7s were wild for us; Bob held on for 7 weeks after he was diagnosed with idiopathic liver failure, and he turned 7 during that time.

I was given support and advice and, I'm sorry to say, some negative comments because I refused to take Bob on a 4 hour car trip for exploratory surgery at a veterinary teaching university.  I almost left the site for good because of those comments.  I'm glad I stayed.

I found TCS on a search engine. I think it was Yahoo, or maybe it was Google? a long time ago so I don't remember - but I do know it was a search engine

My brother told me to post for help after Silly had her eye removed due to herpes.  I found a home of like-minded, cat crazy, for the most part caring folks.

Yep, I was. One day I tried to log on and was told the webpage was unavalable. I tried for a while then gave up. When I came back in 2007, I used my old user name and couldn't so I had to rejoin. I just added a "2" to my user name (Calico222 was already taken, but it didn't recognize me). Sad really...I would like to see my firsts posts...
