One of my cats was diagnosed with possible degenerative myelopathy (animal version of ALS). After a "limp tail", then walking funny, to not being able to use his rear legs, Bud has recently lost control of bladder and bowel.....has any one out there had any experience with this, and can share any info with me!

Aloha!

I am so sorry to hear about your little one's diagnosis.  I, personally, have never even heard of this affliction, until today, when I just read up on it after seeing your thread.

I googled "handicapped cats", and found articles about paralyzed cats, etc., and see they make feline diapers and such for cats that become incontinent, so that should make life easier for you and him, if you can find them.  Surely they are available on the internet?

for you and your little guy.  Hopefully someone will reply who has some experience with this.

There was a cat with a spinal cord injury at one of the no-kill shelters I've worked at. She had no use of her back legs and had to be helped to use the litter box but she was quite a happy cat otherwise and a real connoisseur of laps.

Yes, Bud is now the Lap Cat, but still Top Cat in the family....I have to express his bladder a few times a day-no biggie- and he scoots around pretty fast!

So far it hasn't progressed much more....hoping it will stay like this, as Bud probably won't get "better"

Mahalo for the support!
