Hi, for those of you who have seen my introduction I am already the proud and loving mum to 14 house cats.

I have a problem...

Initially Billy (long haired black and white) started to pop around for "snacks". His mum knew and was quite happy, She lives next door and we get on really well so if she was working late and Billy needed tea she knew he would be provided for
.

Then about a month ago came Milo, Because everyone in the area knows how soppy I am about animals, many neighbours came to tell me about this "starved" tom cat in the area. I found Milo's mum and returned him. She has to tie cupboards shut to stop him eating. He is in lovely condition and looks really healthy and I have no doubt he is looked after but he is the most sackless tom cat I have ever met (will go with anyone for food). He also gets quite aggressive if not fed on demand, He quite often will have a hiss and a swipe at me while he is waiting for me to feed him. I am concerned about possible thyroid problems and have spoken to his owner about this but dont know what else to do, He's not my cat and its not my place to get pushy with my opinions. I make sure I buy high quality hypoallergenic food for him so i'm not going to compound any health issues he might have.

Finally and most concerning is Snowflake as we have named him / her (beautiful white and black long haired puss). Tipped up about two weeks ago and nobody claimed her / him. I was really worried as we live near woods and animals are often dumped around us. I have since found out that she came as a rescue to a lady aboout 5 doors up and escaped as she didnt like the cat already in residence. Since then apparently she has not returned to the house.

So, she / he is very timid and as yet we cant touch. We are making sure food is available to her / him when ever he / she pops by. We have built a cat flap in our shed (which is very spacious) along with a sealed heater, bed etc.  I just feel rubbish if he / she doesnt know where they belong. With 14 we are pretty much at capacity (although the bathroom is currenly vacent) and I hate the thought that puss may not feel she / he belongs anywhere. Been having a mare about them all being out near a busy road two days before bonfire night in any event!!

So any ideas would be great!

Thanks

Mandy and gang. x

AW Snowflake sounds very pretty and in great need of some TLC. Shame that the people who rescued her don't really want her?!! It seems that Snowflake would prefer your yard and shed. I do hope that she uses the shed as it sounds really cozy warm. Hopefully she will get along with Milo and Billy. If there are other cats using the shed then that might deter her from venturing inside. She is smart for sure and I bet in no time she will figure out the shed is a nice place to hang out and keep warm. Maybe put some extra cozy beds/blankets to encourage her. I think this kitty knows you are a caring and loving cat lady and will stick around your place for now. You have a big heart and bless you for caring!! :rub:

Thanks, we spent a really worried night last night as it was bonfire night and crackers going off all over the place! You can not emagine how relieved I was to see her tonight camped out under the covered feeding area John has made for her! Even better, she let me give her a rub and fuss while I was feeding her! She is sooo pretty!! John is busy building lots of beds in different elevations in the shed as well as fitting a thermostat controlled sealed heat light so there should be no problems in the "kitty shack" as its now been named

You know, We dont feel its a good or big thing we are doing, we just love anything with 4 leggs and fur / hair. They didnt ask to be here so the least we can do is care for them, It brings us as much pleasure as it probably does them comfort!!

There are discussions about "Snowey" moving into the bathroom for vets checks etc, cat number 15???

She is beautifull and nobody should be alone for Christmas.....

:heart3: :heart2: This just warms my heart!!! You have such the Holiday spirit already. And I do think these special little creatures find their way to us for a reason. Your "kitty shack" is a dream of mine. We are in the process of potentially moving, but who knows. Someday, when we get settled, I want to build a "kitty shack" :bigthumb: I think the kitty shack will be the perfect place for Snowflake and hopefully she will soon find out how wonderful and safe it will be. OR!!!!! Your Bathroom!!! :lol2: What a sweetheart and she lets you pet on her already. :rub: :clap::clap:

Well, Snowey was in the back of the kitty shack tonight so John took her food in there then we snuck off upstairs to watch her on the cctv cameras he has put in there (to make sure any puss using the facility is fit and well). She ate the lot then curled up on one of the cat beds he has built in the back so at least we know she is one safe happy kitty tonight!! John is off work this week so when she popped around about 3ish he stuffed a couple of pouches of food into her then as well.
