About two weeks ago my cat began displaying some red sores/marks on her body. Largely on the top of her paws, on her legs, and the middle of her back. It seems like they itch or are irritating because she seems to lick/bite those areas on occasion. Not like crazily -- I don't think she is causing the marks herself, but she is likely exacerbating her skin issue.

There is another cat in the house, a 2 y/o male cat. But he loves her and I've never seen him attack her or do anything to cause those marks himself. They do play fight a tiny bit (sneak up and pounce, and then run around a bit -- but that's it), but they are pretty tame most of the time.

We havent changed her diet recently, or introduced anything new to the environment. She is exclusively indoors and hasnt been outside -- I'm not sure how she would have been exposed to anything that she wasnt already exposed to for months.

I've already read about potential cat skin conditions, but I didn't see anything that seems to fit perfectly. I dont think we have fleas or anything like that. We also have another cat in the house -- I don't think it would have been anything contagious.

Please check out my pictures and let me know what you think?

Thanks!!!

Ayla

I don't know? It almost looks a little like ringworm to me?  But just very severe.  You need to take her to a vet.  It could be a number of things.  She could have an allergy or be sick.  So she needs to go to a vet and get checked out.  I know you probably don't want to hear that but most of us cannot diagnose her and we can't treat her and she needs treatment.

I was about to say the same thing that P3 said. My little guy had ringworm when I first got him, but it was never this bad. Definitely take her to the vet, with my guy they had a cream for him at first, but that didn't clear it up after a couple of months. So the vet put him on a oral medication that cleared it up within two or three weeks. It is kind of frustrating to treat because of the time to clear up.

Ringworm is really contagious, you should keep your other guy away from her and always wash your hands after any interactions. I ended up having it on two spots on my arm and when I worked at a pet store when ever our rodents caught it I ended up catching it 25% of the time.

Oh **** -- I think you're totally right. Crap. I already have the next available appointment for Pixel, but I just wanted to see if I could figure out what it was in the meanwhile.

I think I maybe just didnt want to believe it!

She had it initially when we got her a year ago...and we treated her for it, but we didnt go back for that 3rd treatment (it takes 3 times right?). She's indoors so I didnt think she would be able to get it again -- little did I know, she was likely carrying it the entire time?!? Where in her intestines or something? Oh geez.

I'm going to jump in the shower right now...

Thanks,

Ayla

They always have it. It's like cold sores, once you get it the virus stays with you. Which is why again it was so easy for me to get ringworm from the rodents I worked with.
