That store is dangerous for me. Yesterday I stopped in and all I needed was bread and lettuce. Spent $62! Every time I go there I end up spending much more than I anticipated. That store just has great prices and we're getting addicted to going there. For the most part everyting is so much less expensive than in the supermarket.

Does anyone else out there love Walmart?

We don't have Walmart here, so every time I visit my family I end up spending a fortune there on stuff I didn't know I needed.

It's all we have here, except the grocery store which doesn't have a lot of non-grocery items. So, no choice. Do I love it? I dunno. . .it's just everyday life! :tongue2:

But I do tend to get carried away whenever I go to Target (in the "big city"). They have nicer stuff than Walmart :lol3:.

Walmart is all we have here, except one grocery store and a little bitty Dollar Store.  A lot of things at this Walmart are 20 to 25 percent more than in Ft. Smith.

I have a love hate relationship with walmart.  There is so much back story about how they treat their employees. And they are a HUGE importer of 'Made inChina".   I can say that I go there to get household goods. Shampoo, cleaners,Light bulbs, paper towels, etc.

I feel the same way, but financially have to do most of my shopping there too.  It is easy to get into trouble there!

I don't much like Walmart but it is the ONLY store in the closest city that has the food Louie Da Lip can eat and while Friskies isnt super good food, he can only eat shreds and gravy. I was actually pretty good today, only bought cat food and 'old' hallowe'en candy.........

Every time I go to Walmart and Target I HAVE to take a list with me and remind myself that is all I need lol! At Walmart I can control myself for the most part, but Target is my weakness. I tend to spend the most money in the baby/kids sections looking at stuff for my little ones, that of course they don't need :D

Same here, although it's more like hate hate. We try not to go there.....period. Our local WM is filthy and the workers are inept and very discourteous.

I can't stand Walmarts.

1. All of the Walmart stores Ive been to here on Long Island is horribly messy.. shopping carts full of stuff in aisles, shelves messy as all. Employees aren't very nice either.

2. I work with Walmart through my job. The management is very unorganized, no idea what they want and makes my job miserable.

I don't wish to give them my money!

My local WalMart is good and the only complaint is that they keep moving things!

Some of the best entertainment was at another local mart. It was the closest one, so I would drop Mom off at the door and wait in the parking lot and count the shoppers who couldn't find their vehicles. :lol3:

I loathe Wal-Mart.  The one near my home does not ever have enough employees working.  Shelves are half empty.  I am sorry, but I am not going to stand in line for 15 minutes to save 10 bucks.

We have Asda here which was taking over by Walmart and from what some of you are saying they need to send our Asda staff over to show you how to run a supermarket LOL!!

I Love Asda, I do online shopping though so that I dont spend as much as when I go into the shop HAHA

In our area- with local chains, Walmart seems to beat out everyone for price.  I don't like some of Walmart's business tactics- but since we try to save some money- Walmart it is.

A while back (when we started watching pennies) I decided to start using dh's military benefits and go to the local commissary (retired Navy).  I wasn't fond of this store.  It's tiny.  The asiles are supposed to only be one way- and even with them one way it's next to impossible to fit 2 carts through the asile.  Not to mention it's so crowded on military paydays.  BUT- prices on a lot of their items beat even Walmart.  Meat is a big one.  Milk is anywhere from .30-.50 cents cheaper. There is no sales tax- but I pay a surcharge which is roughly the same amount as the food tax here.  And the money from that helps with maintanace and construction of commissary facilities. The really nice one at the base in Norfolk is too far to go to, if I went there everything I saved would get eaten up in gas costs.  This one is a little farther than Walmart, but not crazy far.

There's a nice new commissary that is almost finished.  We were told August- but it's now Nov and the last time I went it still wasn't open
I hope it opens soon- I've been doing comparisons and trying to figure out what to buy there, and what to buy at Walmart.

Usually cereal, meat, milk, rice, and canned goods are cheaper at a commissary, everything else is pretty much the same. And if you developed a taste for some different foods from being stationed overseas, you might have a better shot of finding them at the commissary, but since you can order almost anything online now, it's not as big of a deal. My mom used to plan a big commissary trip to Omaha twice a year, mainly to get Calrose rice and Japanese food, but now Walmart has Calrose rice and we order Japanese food online so we hardly ever go to the commissary now.

The Walmarts here are mostly well-run and reasonably clean. K-Marts, though. . .not so much.

Even Walmart is high on stuff now- everyone is. My problem with them is: 24 registers and 2 will be open . One express, one regular......

But it is cheaper than other grocery stores here etc so I do go there for my grocery shopping & household goods.

I go there occasionally when I need several things and know it will save me enough to make it worth my while. It isn't that far from home.

My dd used to love Wal-Mart until she almost gave birth to her first daughter in one. The doctor told her she should walk briskly for awhile, and it was the only 24 hour place open  in a decent neighborhood. It was hilarious to watch a big pregnant woman trotting/waddling through the aisles at 4 am.

A new Walmart opened up about a mile from me a few years back.  I don't go often but when I do I come home with a lot more for less.  I've never had a problem with them except I was mad when I went to buy my first flat screen TV and they had the model and size I wanted showing in the store but didn't have any in the back for sale.  That's not very good advertising.  I wound up going to Best Buy and bringing home exactly what I wanted.

Other than that, I so far have never had a problem with Walmart.

While I love Walmart for their prices, I admit the help is not usually very good - and most of them don't speak English. You usually can't beat their prices on groceries, health and beauty products, etc.

Was there yesterday looking at vacuum cleaners. Spoke to 2 employees looking for help. They broadcast on the speaker system that help was needed in the vacuum aisle, we waited around 10 minutes and no one showed up. I guess the answer is you have to know the product you want and not need employee help.
