I had just spent loads of money on a stray kitten, then took one of my 18 yr old cats to the vet and she has gingivitis and had lost some weight (I get yearly cleanings for her, but for some reason this year she got bad gums fast)....and now I took my other 18 yr old cat in because of alot of sneezing and diarrhea.  Turns out she has a URI AND stomatitis.  They haven't explained the diarrhea to me yet.  I am just about tapped out on money and this is going to cost a lot.  I'm stressed to the max.

From what I've read, she is probably in alot of pain too.  I just  hate that.  I have also read that she needs to be treated by a cat dentist, not just a vet.  I don't know how I'm gonna be able to handle this and be able to do the right thing for her.

Just lost my mother a little over a month ago and it seems like one thing after another has happened with my pets.......

I feel so bad for my little old Louise.

Oh dear....when it rains it pours

Dentals are not cheap even at a regular vet, and I cannot even imagine what they cost at a specialist, but I think you're correct in that with stomatitis she will probably need that specialist.  Have you applied for Care Credit?  I don't know too much about it, but it's been recommended several times to people who need help with their vet bills.

Here's a link that may be helpful to you, including info on Care Credit  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/155462/cant-afford-a-vet-please-read

Please keep us posted on ALL of your kitties.  Did you keep the stray?

Also, my condolences for your mother

Thanks Mrs. Greenjeens...............I'm just not in a good way right now.  I took the stray kitty in today for a kind of a re-check and the vet said she still can't rule out FIP.  The little baby kitty still has a pot belly (goes along with FIP--and he does not have worms) and a slight fever.  He is eating good, playing good, and his stools are finally a little formed.  Still very soft, but finally formed.  My problem is now--I don't know what the hell I'm going to do with him.  The rescue group won't take him,  I don't want to keep him and have to keep up on all the vet costs, plus possibly putting my cats at risk.........I just absolutely have no idea what I'm going to do with him.  When we leave for a week in November I guess we'll have to board him at the vet's office.
