This actually happened to my Mom several years before she met my Dad. She was staying with some friends who claimed to have a haunted bedroom. Mom, who claimed not to believe in ghosts
, asked to stay in the room. In the room besides the usual bedroom furniture was an old trunk, nothing special about it, just an ordinary trunk that they put old clothes in. Mom was in bed reading around midnight when she heard some rattling. She couldn't ' t figure out what it was until she looked where the trunk had been sitting nd saw that it moving around. She watched as it jumped and moved around. In the morning she opened the trunk and the only thing inside was old clothes. There couldn't 't be any explanation unless.......

I was just about to post the very same post xD

Gather 'round children, gather 'round daddeh and he'll tell you some sto-rays

When I was younger, we (being my sisters, my step-mom and my dad) lived in Louisanna for a few years, and I gotta tell you, whether it's real or not, Voodoo, magic, Ouija boards ect are just things you do NOT mess with down there.

One evening,( it was a week before Halloween) my little sister and I went up with some friends to an old abandoned house that was supposedly haunted the woman who lived there was supposedly into animal sacrifice and all that, so we were walking around and I could swear I kept hearing chickens clucking, and banging on the walls, which I passed off as the wind even though I did have a wierd feeling, later on a couple of days later my sister and all my friends told me that they heard different animals, goats and sheep bleating, ducks quacking, things I did not, the house was torn down the following year, and one of the guys who was on the construction crew died from a heart attack a few weeks later.

Lets see, another one. a couple of years after that, we lived in the countryside of Ohio in an old farm house, and we had dogs, and in my room in particular I hated my closet, I just got the wierdest feeling from my closet, our dogs would come into my room and stare at the closet, and my dad even checked and there were no holes or cracks for animals to get in through.

I remember one night, I was having a particularly hard time sleeping, our dog Coco was laying with me, and I guess I finally fell asleep at some point, and I heard Coco barking, I woke up to find I was laying on the floor beside my bed, facing looking underneath the bed, I opened my eyes and under the bed i saw a pair of glowing yellow eyes, I blinked a few times, and the eyes didn't disapear, they darted away out into the hallway, and Coco didn't chase it as if it were an animal, he stood on the bed staring into the hallway, and just growled.

I've seen the mothman, I've been bigfooting and heard unexplained noises/howls, I've seen Slenderman (look him ip if you don't know what he is) I saw him in a dream, long before I knew what Slenderman was, and I looked it up several years later, and that is what I had seen, I've seen a  "hell dog/hell hound" misty black dogs with glowing red eyes.

Moar ghost experiences

in my exs house when I walked by the bathroom one night, I saw what looked like a shadow of a extremely fat, tallish man in a cowboy hat standing in the corner of the bathroom, when I asked my ex about it, she told me that her family had infact known a man that looked like that, and his name was chubs, and next time I saw him to say "hey chubs" and I would hear "hey there" in my ear, ofcourse I never saw him again.

My friend Jades basement in her old house when we were kids had a "cloaked" figure we'd see every once in a while standing at the bottom of the stares, and her attic was haunted.we would hear stomping and what sounded like a kid screaming.

Once I had another friend of mine sleeping over, he was/is a christian, and we were sleeping in the living room, and I woke up to find that the tv had been turned off, and behind the tv there was a big glowing yellow eye, about the size of a dinner plate, it looked like a cats eye, I literally froze for I dunno how long, I blinked atleast 3 times (you know, blink and it'll go away) it didn't, I finally was able to get up and rush over to turn the light on and as I did I heard a hissing sound in my ear.

that's it for now, that's all I can think of that happened to me lol.

those are all true, I remember them vividly.

This didn't happen to me but it happened to my then fiancé (now husband) in my vicinity:
We had just watched a movie and were about to go to bed. The set up of my tiny apartment was that the washroom was just off of the bedroom. All I heard was my husband asking "what did you say" as he turned around the corner of the washroom into the bedroom (he was brushing his teeth) and I was kind of like what are you talking about...? He said that he had just heard in his ear VERY vividly/clear "who are you??" Almost like someone was right beside him and asked him directly into his ear. He thought it was me but it absolutely wasn't..... twilight zone. Lol
I've also had experiences (in that same apartment) of feeling like i was being spooned (someone cuddling up behind you while your sleeping). I felt pressure on my bum/back and there was no one there.
Also (yet again, in the same apartment) I woke up with my bed shaking. Not severely but just tremors. There was absolutely no explanation for any of these events....
Those are my creepy hauntings. Needless to say, both my husband and I were very glad to move into our new house lol!

Ooo, this is exciting. I have always loved ghosts and have gone out of my way to have as many paranormal experiences as I can.

Nearly all of my paranormal stories happened in the same building in my hometown. My hometown was very small, only 6,000 people in the widespread, rural township. The town center was only a few blocks next to the railroad with some historic buildings (seriously, the whole downtown area was maybe 100 meters by 200 meters). One of those buildings is the most haunted building in Michigan (possibly all of America), the Historic Holly Hotel. Here's a history of it, if anyone is interested. It really is an awesome building with an interesting history. http://www.hollyhotel.com/history.html

I had, of course, heard about how haunted the Holly Hotel was while growing up. The building had had a couple of devastating fires a long time ago, the first in 1913 and the second one exactly 65-years after the first fire (on the exact same date and at the exact same hour) in 1978, so there was plenty of fuel for ghost stories. When I got to be a freshman in high school, I got a job there as a busboy, then eventually a waiter, as the building had been converted into a restaurant quite a while ago. Before I ever saw my first ghost there, I already thought the place was pretty creepy. That's exactly what I was looking for though, since the main reason I ever applied for a job there, apart from date money, was to run into some ghosts.

There are four or five different ghosts in the building that do a range of things from a little girl crying in an upstairs bathroom and her sister causing mischief in the halls and in the kitchen, to an intense smell of cigars or perfume, relating to a previous owner of the hotel, Mr Hirst, and the hostess, Nora Kane. I ran the gamut over the four years that I worked there. The inside of the building is still decked out in Victorian-era garb, and the rooms always feel... small, and tight, as if the air is much thicker. Even the Carry Nation Banquet Hall, the largest room in the building, feels small and cramped. It's a very claustrophobic place for those that suffer from that, with the thick walls muffling sounds really well. A few of my friends couldn't even go inside the building because of what they described as "a feeling of the walls closing in" on them.

Well, over the course of my employment there, I saw some strange things, heard some enigmatic sounds, and smelled some inexplicable aromas. My first experience ever was with the ghost of a little girl. She is supposed to be the daughter of the hotel's former hostess, Nora Kane. She is the one who is usually heard crying in the upstairs bathroom. That is where I first heard her. I was cleaning the upstairs and I heard something that sounded like a dog whimpering, coming from the upstairs bathroom. We usually keep the door closed because the upstairs bathroom is off limits for patrons unless there is an event in the banquet hall, since we have a bathroom on the first floor and don't want people messing with things upstairs on non-event days since we don't have staff up there normally. Anyway, I already knew about the crying girl and decided to see if I might be one of the lucky few to actually get a glimpse of her before the crying stopped. I opened the door slowly and the whimpering sound got louder. At this point, I started to hear some sniffling, so I flung the door open. I don't know if it was the change in air pressure or what, but I felt a wave of cold air pass over me as I stepped into the room and fumbled to find the light switch. By the time I turned on the light, there was nothing there and the sound had stopped.

I have also had another encounter with the little girl, or possibly her sister. Nobody is really sure. As with almost all of my stories, this was after closing time when I was cleaning up. I was taking dishes from the dining room into the kitchen when I heard someone run down the stairs and run up directly behind me in the hallway. I figured it was one of the other employees, albeit a light one since the sound was more of a pitter-patter. I thought someone was trying to scare me and get me to drop the dishes, so I turned around quickly so that I could startle them, but... there was nobody there. I figured I had simply misheard my own footsteps echoing through the building, since creaks and groans were commonplace, even during the day when there were lots of other people in the building. I delivered my current load of dishes to the kitchen, then went back for another. This time, I heard the footsteps while I was still in the dining room. I decided to follow them and see what I could see. The steps went down the hallway and into the kitchen, so I followed them in. When I opened the swinging doors, I saw that a teapot and cups were set up on a platter, seemingly ready for tea time, even though I could swear that the counter was empty on my last trip in. The kitchen was always the most common place for moved objects, though it was usually one of the kitchen knives that was set out on the counter. I ended up leaving the teapot out, because who am I to deny a little girl's ghost some tea? Also, it was generally known that this little girl is very playful and was only playing harmless tricks because she was lonely and wanted someone to play with. Some other employees have actually heard her laughing and caught glimpses of someone running around various corners in the building, playing a game of hide and seek.

I have also smelled the ghost of Nora Kane, the hostess of the hotel. Her most commonly reported haunting is the scent of her very flowery perfume. I personally thought it smelled of lilac and lavender. I probably smelled her perfume a few dozen times over the four years that I worked there, though I only saw her once, and I'm not even sure that I did. I saw her in the back bar area, but I had just been staring at a painting back there when I felt something cold behind me and smelled that perfume. I turned around and saw the outline of a thin woman in a nice dress, looking right at me with a sad look on her face. The reason I am not sure about this is because the painting I was staring at was of a woman and it could have been my eyes playing tricks on me like when you stare at a picture then look at a blank piece of paper and you can still see the outline of what you were just staring at. Also, I could only see about 3/4 of her body before it disappeared around her knees, which was similar to where the painting cut off the image of the woman. The reason I'm not completely sure that my eyes were playing tricks on me is because Nora Kane's ghost just so happens to usually materialize with her feet and ankles missing. Also, this woman did look like the picture of Nora Kane that is in the Foyer, and not like the woman who was in the painting that I was staring at.

Of all the ghosts in the building, I sensed Nora Kane the most. There were all the times I smelled her perfume, but she also has the greatest range of apparitions. I may have only seen her once, but I have heard the piano play late at night when I am on the opposite side of the building many times. I could never be sure that my ears weren't playing tricks on me, because the sound would stop as I got closer to the room with the piano. Sometimes I could hear another melody along with the piano music, which is supposed to be Ms Kane singing along with the music, but again the sounds would stop before I got close enough to confirm what I heard.

My next ghost encounter at the hotel was when I was locking up for the night in the middle of winter. It was cold and drafty in the building since the fires were put out and they never did put radiators in. I was doing a quick once-over of the building and was locking up the front door when I smelled something sweet yet musty. I only got a whiff of it at first and I figured it was some of the potpourri we kept around mixed with the natural smell of a 140-year-old building and being driven into my nostrils by the drafty air, or possibly Nora Kane's perfume, so I didn't give it another thought (If I investigated every single time I smelled the perfume, I would never have gotten anything done at my job). That is, I didn't give it another thought until I got a a second whiff, and this time it was definitely a face full of cigar smoke. The power of the smell was the same intensity as if I were standing within ten feet of someone who was smoking a cigar, but there was nobody in this half of the building. Everyone else was waiting for me to finish locking the front door because we all left through the back, with the manager locking that door behind us. I knew I was probably in the middle of an encounter with Mr Hirst himself, the original hotel owner who has been haunting the building since the first fire in 1913. Supposedly he is very angry at the changes and renovations made to his hotel, as it was enormous and grand, with towers and everything when he sold it in 1912. After the first fire, it was rebuilt much smaller than it used to be. I didn't want to wait around, since his ghost is supposed to be one of the scarier ones due to his anger at the condition of "his" building, but I was just so dang curious. So I walked into the parlor to see what I could see. I ended up not seeing anything that night, but this story is the precursor to the time that I actually did see Mr Hirst (or what I believe to be him, if you're a skeptic).

A few weeks later I was working during lunch, taking orders and bringing them back to the kitchen. It was a really busy day and I was running back and forth pretty frequently. About 2PM I smelled a whiff of cigar smoke in the middle of taking an order. I couldn't stop the person and go ghost hunting, so I tried distractedly looking around while trying to also listen to what the guests were ordering. A family had just gotten up to leave and they were by the coat rack picking up their jackets (this was still the middle of winter) when I saw him. Standing a few feet behind the family was a man wearing a top hat and dressed in one of those old-timey frock coats. At the time, I barely noticed him since I could only see his upper half behind the family, even though I was specifically looking for him. I thought he was an image in one of the many painting that hangs in the hotel, since they all feature people dressed in the same garb (hence why I know what a frock coat is). It took me a few seconds to realize that we didn't have any paintings hanging in the dining room. By the time I realized that and looked back, he wasn't there anymore.

Staying with Mr Hirst, other encounters I have had include hearing disembodied laughing and muttering coming from what sounded like the opposite sides of walls in different places around the building. Remember, I said that the walls muffled sound like no other, so those were actually some of the creepier moments. I got used to the extreme quiet of the rooms, and hearing faint laughing coming, seemingly, from the walls, was particularly spine-tingling.

I had lots more minor and similar encounters, but those are some of the ones that stuck out the most to me. mostly, I have had many more experiences with the kitchen ghost moving things, footsteps in the hallways and stairs, disembodied laughing, and the different smells. I have only had those two visual encounters.

Lots of ghost hunting shows have been to the Holly Hotel, and every year the Ghost Hunters of Southern Michigan comes for a visit. Some people have said that the employees are the ones causing all of the mysteries as a gimmick for the building, but i can tell you from personal experience, as someone who worked in the building for four years, that nobody is faking anything. I have been completely alone in the building during some of my encounters, and in most of my encounters where there are only a couple other people in the building with me, the people have usually been different.

Another thing, they had a seance in the early 1990's, and apparently the laughing/footsteps/moving things around in the kitchen little girl ghost actually showed up.

We stayed at the Lowe Hotel.  Oh, my goodness.  I can't get any of the other pictures to post from my desktop.  Anyway, it was quite spooky.  My friend and I were "upgraded" to a room that had reported paranormal activity.  I was putting on makeup in the bathroom.  Even though the room was warm, suddenly it became very cold.  At exactly the same time, my friend was watching TV in the sitting room and saw three lights on the ceiling that she said looked as if someone was shining a flashlight.  The hotel owner said they were orbs. The first picture is the ballroom, out of sequence.

Okay, I think I have to submit and then edit to add each picture.  This is the front desk.

The room key - a skeleton key.

The hallway on our floor.

The mothman statue.

The Ohio river was flooded.  The green object in the water on the right is a rooftop.

Streelights.

The Silver Memorial Bridge.

Oops, a little late xD but yes, I have seen the mothman, not far from point pleasant as a matter fact, I know several people who have seen "something" around that area since then, all of then are honest people who wouldn't lie to save their lives.

interestingly, the mothman is thought to be a guardian rather than an evil presence, if you've ever seen the movie "the mothman prophecies" (one of my favorites" it's based on actually events of the collapse of the silver bridge in Ohio, several people actually reported seeing a strange being standing ontop of the bridge and recieving strange phonecalls from a "man" who talked funny, warning them that the bridge was going to collapse

I am generally a believer in all that stuff, if you can't PROVE it doesn't exist, and so many people claim to have seen it then it stands to reason that it most likely does

Fascinating.  We didn't get to see a lot of the Pt. Pleasant area because of the flooding.  I'd love to go back.

I was driving a cab on Camp Lejuene early one morning before dawn. It was around 4 a.m, some hours I almost never drove because that was the time drivers had the most problem, but I couldn't sleep, so I went to the old bus station, Building 235. It was foggy and miserable, I parked against the building out of the wind. I was reading my paper, and felt like someone was watching me. I looked up and saw a young Marine sitting on the bench about 8 feet away. I rolled down the window and asked him if he needed a cab, or if he would like to sit in the cab where it was warm. He never changed expression, just shook his head "no." I said "ok, then, thank you for your service and have a blessed day." I looked down for just a few seconds, and when I looked back, he was gone. There was no way he could have gotten out of sight that quickly. I thought maybe one of the rival company's drivers was pranking me to get my first out position, but it seemed a lot of trouble to go to and I had not seen any of them base that morning.. There was no one else around the other side of the building. Nothing to hide behind nearby, he was just gone. I parked and after a few moments, realized why he did not look quite rignt. He was wearing a circa 1960's uniform. I asked a lady that had driven from the same stand for years, and she said she had heard there was something there, but nobody really seemed to know much about this sad looking young Marine. I saw him once more before I moved back to Georgia.

I asked around about him, but since he not officially there, he could not possibly be listed anywhere, maybe if I had his last name................
