Just got a phone call from someone we had met on a cruise a couple of years ago. Her husband had been ill and just passed away. This lady lost a 37 year old daughter to lung cancer (and she had never smoked a day in her life) around a year ago and now she lost her husband. It's so hard to know what to say in a situation like this. He had been in a nursing home, after having a stroke, and he also had prostate cancer. Passed away in his sleep. They are having a "celebration of life" this weekend. And he was just the sweetest, nicest man you could ever meet . Why is it that good people die and the truly mean and rotten ones live on. Sometimes life just isn't fair!

I know what you mean, Lana. Life just doesn't seem fair at times. So sorry to hear of your friend's losses. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

I'm so sorry for your friend's loss of her daughter and husband.  I work at a nursing home and see things like this happening.  It's always such a horrible unexpected shock for the family and a shock for the staff too.  IMO, your friend's husband passed very easily and peacefully.  I hope this can be a small comfort for you and her.

Lorie, you are right. My friend Linda said that her husband Joe passed away very peacefully in his sleep --- no pain, no discomfort. I guerss that's the best way to go.
