I adopted my cat, Kitty, back in March, but still i feel a little tug in my heart when she looks at me and meows. It breaks my heart that i cant understand her language. or she mine. I actually like to speak to her like she does, & sometimes she responds with a "Meow" lol

Sometimes i can guess what she needs, like today, when she meowed at me, she looked at me, and then looked towards the cabinet where i keep her favorite toy, she did this four times until i gave in! But sometimes she randomly meows, and i cant guess at what she wants, hearing her little meow always makes me melt!

Do you guys ever feel the same way?

Some cats are more vocal than others. My Tippytoes talks constantly. She has some siamese in her and that sound sure comes out - especially in the middle of the night. The other 2 don't make nearly as much noise as she does. Sometimes I wish she had a "mute" button on her!

Oh absolutely. :heart3: My kitties meows make my heart just melt. They know it too. They get whatever they need, whenever they want it when they meow!!! :rub: Although, will add that Pipsqueak is a nonstop talker so I sometimes tend to block him out :anon: :lol2:

Oh, yes, all six of my kitties talk, but differently.

Some talk too much, and some very little and very quiet.

I can recognize them all and can say who is talking and what it is about.

Sometimes it happens in the night, especially when they carry their prey or the leaf into the house, calling other cats and us (humans) to see how smart they are.

They try to communicate and yes, we (humans) are not very smart to what they are trying to say.

I tried to learn what they are saying and most of the time I guess by now, but not always still.

It's great that your kitty talks to you - and so great that you understand what she needs most of the time.

That's the best we can do really.

It's Jack meow that gets me, because he's still got the squeeky meow that he had as a kitten.

He does it more when i'm in the bath,  but it sounds more distressed as if he wants to get on my lap but he can't?

I can say only twice, When I heard Binks crying.  It was a string of little mews, like a puppy whining. That happend when her friend Hoots passed, she wandered around he house looking for her and again when she had food allergies and was so itchy and miserable.  We did get her allergies fixed up but it took several months.

Sometimes.  I've learned to tell their meows apart though.

The ones that really break my heart is when Spencer is wanting to play and I just don't have the time right at the moment.  Or when Abby is bringing her rolled up socks from one room to the one where I'm in and she "gets lost" on the way back. She cries and cries while roaming around the apartment carrying those socks until I call and call her until she finds me.  I imagine she does the same thing when I'm not home.  Katie hardly ever meows and when she does it sounds chirpy and happy.
