I just got back from my doctor's appointment and I am kind of scared. The results of my mammogram and ultrasound were not good. My left breast shows nodules that may be malignant! They are scheduling me for a biopsy which might be kind of hard since I do not have insurance anymore. The right breast shows that there is something there but might be scar tissue from a previous surgery. I did have a lump removed from that breast over 30 years ago, so that might be it. Be praying that I can get my biopsy soon and the results are negative.

If the results are positive, I can apply for emergency medi-cal. There is a program called MIA at the county hospital. It stands for Medically Idigent Adults. I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I also had blood work to check my blood clotting. This is because I am on Plavix. They also gave me a flu shot and a tetnus shot. All in the same arm which is the shoulder I have bursitis in. Needless to say, my arm is very sore!

I think it is going to be a needle biopsy since I don't have to go to a hospital to have it done. They will just do it by ultasound to guide the needle, I think. My doctor said something about an MRI too.

I had a needle biopsy years back. Everything was ok but they did out-patient surgery for another small lump on the other breast. Called in fribrocystic breast disease. Nothing serious, thank goodness. Prayers that all is ok with you. Will be thinking of you:vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

8 years ago, my mom had breast cancer in her left breast, & she opted to have them both removed, as to not worry about it happening again on the right side.

She was blessed to not have to go through any treatments. Just the surgery, & reconstructive surgery.

My prayers are with you & good vibes as well!!!!!!!

That's a bummer...

Can imagine you are scared.

Can't they do a cytological aspirate first?

It is far cheaper, less invasive, and you have the results far sooner.

If the cytology merits further action, they can still do a biopsy or a lumpectomy......

Do you happen to know if there is any genetic predisposition for breast cancer in your family?

If there is, you might want to decide on a lumpectomy straight away if the cytology isn't good.

There is no breast cancer in my family. I had a lumpectomy about 30 yrs ago that was benign. Since then I have had a few cysts that went away on their own.

Many :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: headed your way that it is a benign cyst/nothing to be worried about!

I was worried about the cost for the biopsies since I don't have insurance anymore. But I am not worried about that anymore. My doctor's office called today and told me of a program that would pay ALL of the cost of the biopsy! I went down there and filled out the paperwork and I qualified since I am over 40, I don't have insurance, my income is low and it is for cancer screening. So my appointment is for the 8th. I will be have at least 3 biopsies, 2 in my left breast and 1 in my right. I am hoping for a fine needle biopsy. It will be under a local so I will be able to drive home afterwords. I will be glad to get this behind me. I am believing that it will NOT be cancer!

That's great news! I had a core needle biopsy about 4 years ago. It all came back negative. Continuing the :vibes: that yours does as well.

Did it hurt? I don't know what type of biopsies they are going to do.
