Badge for members who deal with feral cats

As detailed in this thread, we've been working on setting up a special award badge for those working with feral cats.

We've looking for a title that won't be too obscure, and will intrigue those not familiar with feral cat issues to learn more. The badge will be a site badge (graphic image), awarded to those who care for ferals, either managing colonies, TNR'ing, volunteering with feral cat organizations or advocating for ferals online and IRL.

I thought I'd run the poll here in the lounge, to get more members involved with this project. So, for now, please vote on the title. Next phase, we'll open this up for graphic design.

I'll keep the poll open until we have 30 votes.

I do think It should have the word 'cat' in it.  Just 'feral' can mean alot of things.
 

I think Friend of Ferals (even though that was one of my suggestions .... I recant my submission :lol3 is already overused, at least in my area of the Midwest. I don't think "friend" gives it the weight of honor it deserves, but that is just my :2cts: :lol3: I would love something more original. :bigthumb:

I´ll try to take a picture of my 3 ferals on my area... they just :dash: when they see me, and come back for

Yeah, that's something I was thinking as well and we discussed in the other thread. Most people seem to think that since it's used here on TCS, it would be clear enough that it's cats and not another type of feral animal. But, sure, if more people feel they want cat in it, that works.

Well, it's overused for good reason - nice alliteration there! Looks like it's popular around these parts too, so far!

Voted.  And I don't think it's necessary to add 'cat' on TCS.

Not sure about the picture though Anne.  I was trying to make it bigger as at avatar size it looks to me like an angel on the loo, with a rather startled pussycat in the foreground

on the angel on the loo image. I don't think I'll be able to look at this picture again without laughing. That's not the badge, whew. Definitely not graphic material for badges, just some feral-related image I had bought a while ago, so splashed it on the announcement. Once we decide on the badge title, we'll start playing around with designs. IMO, no picture would be better - just a nice badge design. But that's for the future.

Ok, If it for this site It might not need the word 'cat'. Aparently I a missing a bit of back story.  But I did see an Angle on the loo!

I hear you... but I like it. :lol3: Not everyone who has the badge will be actively caring for ferals, and not everyone who does care for ferals is active in advocacy. :dk: Since the badge will be awarded to people who have rescued a feral, not just people who are active in TNR, I think the best option is just plain old "Friend." :rub:

It didn't sound like in the description, that it would be for people who rescued *one* cat though. It sounds like you'd have to do more.

From what I'm reading, this is an ongoing badge.  If it only goes to people who are very committed 'feral friends' then they will just keep getting the 'feral friend' badge.  But it could also serve to encourage, and to award those who have limited time, health, energy or opportunity and yet have still managed to do some good with our feral cats.

But I may be completely wrong about what Anne is suggesting, so this is just a thought.

I haven't set up any specific criteria. Maybe we should setup a committee, where a few established members can go over "applications" and decide?
