Hello,
My sweet girl Violet has been missing since Monday night. She snuck behind my husband and I when we came in around 9; we were watching the Presidential debate, and thought she was sleeping in the bedroom. It wasn't until 11:20 that we realized she was gone. We immediately canvassed the immediate area, kicking bushes, calling her name, and using the flashlight. We started walking around, and around 12:40 we saw her. She obviously only came out because she thought we were gone, and spooked at the flashlight. The last we saw of her, she was wandering around a neighbor fenced-in yard. We have traps out with mackrel, a blanket that smells like us, her favorite bed, and I spread some used litter around the area.
Here's the kicker: twice, we have observed that the water has been used and the food has been eaten. Once, it was kibble outside of the trap to lure her over, and the second was last night while the trap was still bungeed (she's skittish and was feral before, so she has to be eased into the trap). As far as we know, there is no stray cat in the area would eat her food, and wild animals are not getting it. Is it her? And if it is, how do we get her by Sunday night, when the weather in VA is supposed to get a lot colder? Is she taunting us? And what else should we be doing? Her brother is going crazy without her, and Mommy misses her little girl .
