The vet told me 4 drops everyday but how do I know if I gave him 3 or 4 or maybe more I can't hold him tight, open his mouth and count the drops at the same time and there is no one to help me I live alone any ideas?

I can't mix it with food because he will NOT eat it he hate the taste of the drops and the smell  :(

Haley, try to do it when both you and he are relaxed.  Then try to hold him in your lap and pet him for a while before you try.  While he's still in your lap, lay his head to one side and a little back while you gently open his mouth with your finger and quickly place the drops in his mouth with your other hand.  You want to make sure he gets at least the amount the vet said, I don't think an extra drop or so will matter.

Well, I tried this method when Hoot was a kitten.  I'd warm up a bath towel in the dryer.  After it cooled enough so that she would be comfortable in it but still warm enough to be toasty; I would wrap her in it, speak gently to her and put the drops in.  Then I'd speak gently to her afterwards and try to bond with her.  Eventually it worked out well and I've even used the towel method to trim kitten's nails.

I've had to give doxycycline drops, vitamin B (different schedule from doxy), and lactulose orally to my kittens when they were about 4 months old. The vet showed me how to do it so it was easy, but I'll try to describe the method as best as I can. I did it after they had eaten so they're naturally calm. Then I'd lay one on his back on my lap. Using my elbows for support, I carefully lift one side of the mouth with my thumb, then drop the medicine there where teeth are, even if the teeth are shut. They'd lick the stuff from their teeth right away. In my case I had to do it one drop at a time. I had to maintain this for about 6 weeks. Pretty soon they got used to it. Just make sure they associate the activity with something positive, like petting time.

If this does not work, perhaps your vet can show you how to do it properly.

Good luck.
