Thanks for posting this question.  I plan to get one or the other soon, and would also like to hear about both products before deciding.

Honestly, they are the exact same thing except for the shape of the refills - Litter Locker's are round and Litter Genie's are square.

I bought my first Litter Locker before I knew the Litter Genie existed.  I don't know if they have stopped making the Litter Locker, but it's no longer available at Petco or Petsmart, and it's all but impossible to find on Amazon.  I realize that these companies make their money on refills and not the container itself.  Diaper Genie (for human babies) refills fit the Litter Locker and cost $1-2 less than Litter Locker refills, which cost $1-2 less than Litter Genie refills.  You can also use plain garbage bags to refill the refill cartridge.  In this economy, people will do what they have to to save money.

I don't know about the litter locker, but I have the litter genie and it's the smartest purchase I've ever made.

I have the litter locker and am very glad to have it. Especially on really cold days when I don't want to be lugging cat poop out to the trash. I use 10 litre garbage bags instead of the ultra expensive refills, and aside from being cheaper, there's less fiddling with cutting and re-tying the bag.

I really like the litter genie.

The refills have triple ply plastic so you cannot smell anything.

The least expensive place to buy the refill from is Amazon. I think if you use regular plastic bags, then you kind of defeat the purpose of it being smell proof. I live in an apartment. You cannot smell 'cat' in my place!!
