we have two cats whom are both indoor, and extremely healthy. recently after a food change one became ill or rather stopped eating, the second cat followed...

symptoms:

vomiting bile, lethargic, not eating, the one who got sick first was the worst of the two she now is jaundice (yellow skin) which im aware is her liver failing... we did have xrays done and her liver was enlarged slightly.

my question is.. if its liver disease or anything else specific like that who do both have similar symptoms??

the vet is 95% sure its fatty liver disease, which can be somewhat reversible if the cat resumes  regular eating again. the second cat is back to his usual self the first cat is still vomiting occasionally 1 or 2 per day and is still only eating very small amounts at a time ( ive been feeding her small portions every few hours to kick start her system.

im wondering if they both got a parasite...if they both are having symptoms.

they are both relatively young 12 and 7 yrs and both have had a purrrfect bill of health up till now

and idea's?, thoughts?

thank you for your answers!! :)

What did they eat before they got sick? It sounds like the food was contaminated or bad to me.

I know of three kitties (not my three) that were fed some canned tuna from the fridge that their human daddy didn't realize was bad when human mom was gone for a couple days. One actually died, but that poor kitty was almost 18 years old and had other health issues to begin with and his little body couldn't fight off the bad bacteria, etc. in the tuna.

If you can let us know what they ate and how long ago, that would be helpful. I'll find the info in my files on what was done to help the kitties that ate the bad canned tuna.

thanks!

they are both raw fed since they were babies..i switched to butcher meat and organs to save money and am aware they can sometimes get the "old" meat... they ate it fine for about a month and then stopped eating all together (this was roughly almost three months ago) shes been sick for about 3 weeks, we have switched back to their original raw diet and they seem to be doing better, Chiku is recovering slowly if anything...however she was living under our couch and would only come out to use the catbox now she is out more frequently is socializing and rubbing up on stuff and sleeps in our bed at night like she use to. i take this as a good sign

thanks for looking that up! many thanks in advance!
