GOODNESS GRACIOUS......... I have been away for a few days and am just seeing this now. TAMMY!!!! A kitty champion, you are. :hugs: :hugs: I am sorry about the little :rbheart: black kitten. :shame: You are doing an amazing job with them and if not for you, I am certain they all would have passed. There is such a need for people like you that will take in and rescue lost babies regardless of what they are going through with their own indoor kitties. Takes a very, very, very special person. Bless you, Tammy. :heart3: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for the babies. They are beautiful.

More sad and devastating news.  This morning I noticed that little Tabatha (tuxedo girl) was acting strange, like weak and lethargic, but she did eat and drink, so I decided to wait and see.  She ate lunch and she still looked so weak, so I took her to the vet, she said she heard her chesta and she seemed to have a respiratory infection, but she wasn't coughing or anything and she didn't have any discharge in her nose or eyes, weird!  So she prescribed antibiotics for all three babies and I took them home.

I took Tabatha in my arms so she could feel warm and loved and sadly she passed away in my arms.  It was so sad and heartbreaking, but she went peacefully and loved.  And at least she didn't suffer for days.  I wish I could have done more for her, she got sick so suddenly :(

I have two kittens now to care for, they look good and are very active and playful, I hope they make it so they can have a wonderful life with a wonderful family.

Update on mommy cat, she is with her owner right now, she is being treated for the mange and will go for her second inyection in a week. I had no choice, I had to take her to her owner because it was getting difficult to keep her away from my cat Fuzzy ( he goes outside), I couldn't risk his health and since he found out she was here he didn't want to come to the house and I was super afraid of him going and not returning.  The problem is she is a very loud girl and she doesn't like being inside the shed.

She will be spayed as soon as she is mange free.  I will take her to the vet in a week for that.

This has been the most difficult rescue of my life, but it is always worth it.

Hugs, Tammy

Well little Tabatha had the best very short life she could have had in her situation... you did the very best for her.  I'm so glad that she passed away feeling so loved.

And mother cat will be a lot better with all the health care and especially being spayed!  I hope her owner is keeping her in.

Good luck with the two little ones.  They couldn't possibly have had a good life without you.

Thank you all, this has been so hard! specially because I haven't been feeling very well, I have back pain.  But it has been very hard taking care of sick kittens, I feel exhausted and I don't know if I will be able to do this again, I have enough as  it is with my own babies..    I just feel exhausted, but the two kittens and the mom are all doing ok, and I will take care of them and will have the mom spayed and returned to her owner.

Tammy, we're without power - and right now, without power, we have no cell signal, so I only have access (and that is intermittent, because the antenna on the cell signal booster is out of place) when we run the generator, which is infrequent. I'm SO sorry to hear about Tabitha. :rbheart: But she was loved and cared for, and now Tabitha angel is watching over you with her little sister. :rbheart: I can only imagine how hard this is - and I know how difficult back pain makes EVERYTHING - and kitties ARE a lot of work, especially when you have a full schedule already! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

At least the kitties are big enough you don't have to bottle feed them now (right?) ... and mom is getting the care and attention she needs - and will never have another litter again - because of you, sweetie. :heart2:

My thoughts are with you and the babies (and mom too!) :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

Hi Laurie, I've been thinking about you and Gary and the kitties, I know you don't have power, but I hope you can read this.  How is everything? how are you two and how are the kitties?  I prayed for all of you.  I hope the hurricane didn't cause you much damage.

I'm still in pain, but caring for the babies.  I went to see the mommy cat yesterday and I have to say I don;t trust the owner, she had her outside! what is wrong with that lady? I don't want that poor gal getting pregnant, I don't think she will survive it in the state she is in.  I brought her food and I will be taking her to the vet on Saturday for her second treatment for the mange.  after that I will take her to get her spayed and after a day or two I will return her to the owner, which breaks my heart because I don't think she is doing a good job taking care of her.  But I have no choice I can't take her, can't afford another kitty and can't because she has an owner.

The two remaining kittens are doing well, but their bellier are so big! And they were dewormed.  I took them to the vet  to see if they were the right weight so they could give them an inyection for the mange, but no, they are still too little.    I have to take them back to the vet in a week.  they are eating like crazy, they don't need formula, they are eating canned fancy feast like there's no tomorrow and they are so playful and they love me! I look at them and they immediately start purring, I love them sooo much!

I want to thank you all for your help, for your vibes and prayers.  This group has been so good to the babies and also our friends on ebay.

I'm sad to say that I shared my chipin.com in two websites from Puerto Rico (were I live), and not one person cared of gave the babies a penny.

I opened a new chipin.com so I can have the mommy cat spayed, I will also be having some auctions on ebay to  be able to help that mommy cat.  Here is the link to the new chipin.com just in case:

http://tammyskitties.chipin.com/emaciated-mommy-cat-and-two-babies

I want to thank every person who donated for them, I used it for:

vet visits (they have been three so far)

medicine ( antibiotics, ivermectin, dewormer, pedialyte, nutrical, etc)

a little box

litter (they eat a lot so they use it a lot)

pads for the floor

gloves

lysol

kitten shampoo

cans of fancy feast food that they love

towels

chubs

and some other things for them

Thank you all:)

Hugs, Tammy

Update on the kittens, they are doing amazingly well, the only thing that worries me is that their bellies are a little big.  they were dewormed properly and they were treated for mange and also they are on antibiotics.  If I see no change in a couple of days I will take them to the vet again.

They are such happy active kittens and they have been here for almost two weeks, the change is amazing.

 Here is little Mateo

this is  Sofia

I love them and I hope I can find them good homes:)

They really are just beautiful, and so happy!

Re: the bloated tummies... do they have diarrhea, as that may indicate gas?

Also found this that may be of interest, from a local cat forum site:

"Sometimes kittens who have been malnourished will bloat when they are fed too much too quickly.   Also, nutrient rich foods can cause bad gut bacteria to flourish and multiply, resulting in a bacterial imbalance and diarrhea. When my previously starved kitten went through something similar (diarrhea and bloating) after I rescued her and started feeding her a high quality diet, my vet had me switch to a low protein diet and give her probiotics until her stool firmed up. Then I very gradually started switching her back to a higher protein, more growth-appropriate food. Even after her stool normalized, it took a couple of months for the bloating to subside and her belly to look normal again."

Thank you all, haha Carolina , iforgot a cuteness warning:-)
No the babies haven't had diarrhea for a week now. It could be that they are eating too much, but since they are babies I'mfeeding them 3 times a day half a can of fancy feast each and also dry food one time a day. It coul be too much, but they get so hungry that sometimes I think they are not eating enough.

They are not in sny pain, they are happy , but i will take them to the vet anyway.

Oh mai goooooodness :thud: I died :thud: toooooo much cuteness killed meself :stars:
:yeah: That! :lol3:

Aw.... Tammy, do their tummies STAY bloated? Because kitties will eat a lot, bloat up, but then they poop, and while they'll still have round bellies, they're not "bloated." :dk: But as suggested by others, a probiotic might help. I don't know if you can find a human acidophilus supplement where you live, but half the lowest recommended adult dose should be fine.

Thank you all for your help.  It is exactly what Mani says, they were malnourished and they eat too fast.  I've been feeding them canned food (fancy feast) mostly and some purina kitten chow.  The problem has been that their last meal for the past two weeks have been at night and I haven't been able to leave them food to eat at night because of the ants that get in the shed, so, every morning they are so desperately hungry that they just swallow  the food.  I decided yesterday that I will have them inside, in the laundry, my other cats don't go there and  there are no ants there.  So I did that and last night I left them dry kitten food, this morning I was happy to see they were happy and were not desperate to eat and their bellies are a little bit better.

I don't feed my cats dry food anymore, but this babies might end up eating dry food, that is what most people give them.

Well, they looked better and them at 5pm I decided to give them just a little bit of canned kitten fancy feast, well, they are all bloated again and they are in fact, gassy, the poor babies!

I think I will have to stop giving them canned food, they like it so much they go crazy and eat it too fast, that is the problem.

I don't have access to probiotics, but I will eliminated the canned food for a few days to see if they keep improving.  If they don't off to the vet again...

But they will be fine, they are so funny and sweet, I have a blast just watching them play and they don't have mange anymore or diarrhea, they are amazing babies:)

Hugs, Tammy

Oh Tammy :thud: Again, trying to play catch up here on TCS as life has gotten in the way. I watched the video. Mateo and Sofia are just beautiful, adorable and precious babies. I really don't think they are too bloated. A lot of kittens have those big tummies. I don't blame your for worrying. Your such a good momma to all of your babies. Aw hun, you are doing an incredible thing for them. Bless your heart, Tammy. They couldn't be in better care. :rub: :heart3: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
