Indoor or mature for the older cat .

My son came from pet smart with a question . We are trying the simply nourish for our dogs it seems to have everything blue buffalo has.  I have bought a bag of kitten food for our 3 month old rocky . They tell him that the simply nourish indoor cat food is the same as blue buffalo mature cat food  . I don't see how but I am no expert on animal food . What I have seen in the dog food it seems like a good product but I have a 9 year old female tuxedo cat and my son has her brother . Does anyone know anything about this cat food Simply Nourish ?

It is a higher quality dry food with decent ingredients. I would stick with kitten food for the kitten because they usually have more vitamins and calories, but I wouldn't worry about the other food being labeled as indoor vs. mature. I kinda feel like this is all a marketing strategy.

I'm a Pet Nutrition Specialist with the Nutro Company, competitors of both Simply Nourish and Blue Buffalo.  I'm not sure who "they" are that told your son the foods are the same.  They are not... not exactly.  The fact that you are happy with the product is what's important and that you feel it will meet your pet's needs. 

Here is kind of a rule of thumb.  If your senior cats are overweight, a lite or weight control formula is what is recommended for them.  If not, an adult food will be just fine for your senior cat.  I don't know about the kitten food.  I'd be a little concerned about feeding kitten food to the senior cats unless they are underweight or need to be coaxed to eat.  Kitten food can put weight on an adult cat rather rapidly if the cat is somewhat on the sedentary side.  If you have serious concerns, give the vet a call and see what he/she says.
