I wrote a couple weeks ago about my Bengal Neko (can't find it - be honest I didn't look to hard), but I am just hoping we can get out of this decline! In order this is what is going on and I feel like the worst pet owner in the world! But I just do not know if I am being over bearing... not careful enough... or turning into a crazy cat lady!

I have 2 Bengals which I purchased 10 days apart from the same breeder. The idea was to have 2 cats close in age to socialize with eachother as our 16 year old Russian Blue passed this past May and for as much as we wanted to get him a friend he was just to old and over protective of us to entertain the idea.

1st Bengal - Neko (male) - came to us in good health as far as I could tell and a very active 12 week old kitten!

2nd Bengal - Snooki (female) - half sibling to Neko - Came to us with a touch of diarrhea more laid back and calm then Neko at 10 weeks old

- Within one week of having the 2 kittens Neko develops diarrhea - poor guy has such bad poops by Friday night (Oct 5th - Canadian Thanksgiving weekend) I am considering bringing him into a emergency vet - his last poop of Friday was clear mucus - nothing else. I start hitting google to find some advise on what to do and find that I can try a boiled chicken and rice diet that may settle his stomach and give it a try. Snooki still has it, but not as bad as Neko.

- Sat morning Neko poops and at least it's now the color of poop, I am still concerned, but I am now satisfied that I can wait till Tuesday (after the holidays) to call the vet unless he gets worse again.

- Call the vet Tuesday, they tell me I am doing all the right things and to try and add a teaspoon of lactose free - no or low fat yogurt to their diet and if not firming up to call in a couple days.

- Thursday, I see no improvement from Tuesday... I call the vet and make an appointment for Friday. I also want to have a sore looked at that I found under his chin

- Friday - I bring both kittens in and a stool sample. Vet (not my cats normal vet) wants to medicate against giardiasis my younger kitten hates the meds and anything that went into her mouth ended up either in a froth on her mouth or all over her coat. I am actually apppalled at how much of a brute the vet is with her that I ask him to not touch her anymore and ask assistant to see the normal vet and have to wait till Monday, which is ok because by Monday we will have results from stool test. Vet insisted sore was from the cats playing, even though I assured him he had it when we got him but I thought it was 'just a spot' as it was the same size and color as some spots he has around his wiskers so didn't think anything of it until now because it doubled in size and I took a picture and blew it up and that is definately a sore. I leave and get some hydrocordisone for his sore on the way home because I have no idea what else to do and read it was safe in small amounts. Also keep them on rice and chicken.

Monday - Go see normal vet - tests come back negative (this is the second round of tests on stool BTW we had them tested when we first got them - this one was a different test and more expensive) - Vet decides to treat for collitis (sp?) and puts them on salazopyrin for 5 days. Also mention the sore he has under his chin and that i have been putting a thin small amount of hydrocordisone and he says keep doing it

Wednesday - I am brushing Snookie and Neko decides to jump up on my lap without my expecting him to... he slips off my lap and he has hurt his hind leg. It's 10:30pm and I immediately call the vet and bring him in for an emergency visit because he is not willing to put any weight on that leg at all! Vet feels around determines it is probably a sprain and sends him home with a shot of pain killers.

Friday - Before the weekend I call the vet to advise Neko is still not using his leg, however the diarrhea seems to be getting better for him but still the same for Snooki. He asks me to bring him in to look at his leg again. We suggests we can take Xrays even though vet says he doubts there is anything to worry about and most likely not needed I however am a worry bug and I feel something more then a sprain is happening so he gets Xrays and sure enough he has a fracture! No splint or cast - vet advises me to crate him for 4 weeks :( I borrow a crate from a large dog owner I know and... he is of course trying to scale the cage from the inside, so I now keep one or the other caged when they start rough housing (instigator gets caged) to keep her from pouncing on his leg while playing.

Saturday - Last day of meds to help with poops.

Sunday - Diarrhea is back!!!!

Tuesday - Called Vet AGAIN - they asked me to pick up some panacur to treat both for any parasites they may have that is not showing on stool tests.

I am just at my witts end... I have spent a good 900 bucks in vet bills and meds for these guys and I feel like the worst pet owner ever and I can't keep my kittens healthy! What am I doing wrong?? What should I do? My kittens seem happy enough... I just want them to be happy AND healthy! I guess I could take them to another Vet, but the truth is... where we live our options are limited considering the other vet clinic is ruled out for misdiagnosing our previous pet with liver problems when he really had a tumor that was growing in his tummy :(
