Is my cat possibly a Norwegian forest cat or Maine coon mix?

What breed do you think my cat most closely resembles?

Hello fellow cat lovers! I am new to this site . I own 3 cats, all boys :). The one I have a question about is my big boy "Fluffy" my daughter gave him this cute named because he has a really soft, plush coat. I accidentally came across a pic of a Norwegian forest cat and thought "wow that's looks like fluff boy!" So I wonder if he is mixed with one or even possibly pure bred, doubt that though since we got him as a kitten from the SPCA. I also think he resembles a Maine coon. Hes already pretty big, Hes only 6 months old and weighs at least 7 or 8 lbs I'm guessing. He has big feet that have thick fur on them, a long fluffy tail, long white hair in his ears, and big almond shaped golden green eyes. His coat is becoming thicker and definitely softer the older he gets. He has a really quiet soft meow, especially compared to my siamese mix! He is a very mellow and laid back cat, even as a young kitten, he's always been so chill. He's loves my daughter and is so sweet and tolerant of her, and I think he really enjoys all the attention she gives him. He is not a huge "lap cat" but he loves to sit next to you and get affection. Or jut sit in his spot and observe everything. He is really just a sweet, laid back cat.
I would love to get everyone's opinion about what breed he is possibly mixed with? Maybe Norwegian forest cat? or Maine Coon? Or do u think hes just a handsome domestic medium hair? It wouldnt change my feelings for him either way, but I am curious what you guys think!
Here is a link to some photos of him:

The cat in the photos looks shorthair!  But we can't see it's tail, maybe that says longhair.

Both the NFC and the MC are 'natural breeds' which means they were selected from the cats that happened to ive in Norway and Maine - in two places with very cold winters.  So, you have convergent evolution - domestic cats in widely separated places developing similar physiques.  The Siberian has done the same thing.  Being large is good in cold places, so is a long but maintainable coat and a big fluffy tail to use as a duvet.  And of course you can find cats all over the place that resemble one or more of these breeds to a greater or lesser degree.

Very cute kitten though!

Either a domestic shorthair or a domestic longhair.

I wonder why you mentioned he resembles NFO and MCO, as the two breeds don't resemble each other much at all from the face, they're just both longhairs..?

Norwegian Forest Cat is still rather rare, it would most definitely NOT be part that.

I actually read somewhere that its likely the Maine coon descended from the Norwegian forest cat, among other breeds. I see a lot of similarities between the two, and I think my cat resembles both a little bit. Even if his parents werent purebred of either breed, I definitely see resemblance to both.

Agree Coonies and Wedgies aren't similar, not seeing either breed in this cat

I don't know?  I have seen Coons, documented Coons that have similar faces to her cat.  So it is possible but without paperwork to back it up, he would be considered, I would say a domestic long hair.  My King Arthur's father is a show Coon and typically Coons have a more squarish looking muzzle (in the US).  I have pictures of King Arthur and his dad in my pictures if you want to take a look.  King Arthur takes after his dad and looks very similar in the face and body.

My friend, Ann's Coon, Leo looks more like your kitty in the face and bone structure and he is a documented Coon.  From pics I have seen of Coons in England, this is typical.  They aren't as squarish as the Coons here in the US for some reason?

I wasn't saying that US is different on all types just pictures I've seen of Coons in England versus Coons in the US... The US muzzle tends to be a little larger and more squarish looking to me and they seem to have stricter guidelines for it in shows.  Leo could be a "pet" Coon but he is still documented and he looks very close to her cat.  I was just saying it's possible in his lineage but not a certainty because Coons are a naturally occuring breed and many cats look similar.

Well, the Coons over here (Finland, we share land border with Norway) look very different from NFOs.

Examples: Finnish MCO male http://catza.net/fi/view/breeder/TipTop/163159/  (CFA show)

Finnish NFO male http://catza.net/fi/view/code/NFO_n_24/198007/  (FIFé show)

That's what I thought.  I don't speak Finnish (sp?), but like French, if I can see it sometimes I can get the idea what it says.  Once again, I love your avatar.

I dont see Cambridge resembles Norvegian at all. Norvegians have a more triangular face, also little more protruding than this..

Sooner Siberian if you want him to resemble something unusual "exotical"....  Siberians is the third akin breed to MCO and Norvegians. "the big trojka"

But Siberians are surely rare in USA, so the real alternatives are domestic or some MCO descendand...   :)

Beautiful cat.

Thanks, that's Kuura back when he was still young and thin.
The website with the pics can be browsed in english too, there's a link in the top right corner to switch the language.

Are Brits ever thin? They seem to be born as chunky monkeys
Well, if they're nursing they sure can be very thin. But they should be evenly shaped, like one thick log. Kuura is a bit too fat at the moment, but he's on a diet..
