My flutd cat, Daniel is driving me insane. He is super picky, he refuses to eat any quantity of wet. He only will eat a few bites. I was thinking about giving him the rx dry, for a short time to get his condition under control, while feeding regular canned, so I can figure out what he'll eat. Any thoughts?

That's what I'd do. It's hard with a kibble addict, or switching cats to timed feedings.

Transition tips from another thread:

...

As for more tips on transitioning to better food (is raw an option for you? It's a life-saver for many cats with intestinal issues: http://www.catnutrition.org/ibd.html), here are a couple of really good videos by Dr. Karen Becker that you might find helpful:

Another link that talks about switching to raw, but with canned as an intermediary between it and kibble, so there are some good tips even if you don't go raw: http://feline-nutrition.org/nutrition/how-to-transition-your-cat-to-a-raw-diet

I think that's a good idea. Kibble crazies are hard to work with, aren't they? My Cookie was one! What brands of wet are you feeding, out of curiousity?

Just about everything. Raw, friskies, Merrick, blue, hill's c/d... All pate. He'll eat, but it depends on his mood. Some days he'll eat like a pig, the next nothing. The his condition flares and he pees on the floor.

I think your original gut instinct would be the correct course of action to take. That would be my course of action as well.  I hope he drinks plenty of water.

FYI, the number of meals - eating and not eating - can make the pH in his urine spike. So it is best to give him something he'll eat at each meal, and the more meals you can feed him on a schedule the better, that helps even out the peaks in pH.

The transition links should help. :cross:
