We just lost our kitten after being spade. She jiggled out of the carrier door when we were opening the door. She had stiches from the spade and ran fast thru the business parking lot bushes. We searched 2hrs, and went into the back neighborhood to ask neighbors if she somehow got over the fence. About 6 weeks before she was our kitten she was living with the homeless under a bridge. Is she ferral? Did she freak on the overnight vet trip, enough to not come back to our calls? How do I trap her? She did not appear to be in any of the bushes, and must have gone under or over a fence in an unfamilar neighborhood. Besides the signs I've put out for lost kitten,  what are my chances of getting her back into a trap if I put one in the vet parking lot? Will she will come back to an unfamilar spot?

Any ideas helpful.

Thanks

You couldnt find her as they are good at laying down, freeze and become invisible...

A inside only kit would prob stay near the area.  A kitty used to live outside is more movable. Although with a fresh spaying she will probably try not to move too much.  She is probably still in the area.

The good news is, if she wont perish because wounds opening after this fresh spay, she will manage.

Go there at dusk / early mornings, and even nights, and try to find her.   A trap is also something you must try.

Although you must plan for what to do with the other cats who goes into your trap.

Good luck!

Since she's a kitten, you might try setting a small trap (like a Havahart small for rabbits, skunks -- maybe rent or check with your local animal control or a rescue group), wrapped in a blanket or rug and with her food and a small towel or something inside (best if it had her scent). Start at the site where she ran away. If no luck in a day or two maybe moving the trap a short distance in the direction you saw her run. Night would probably be best but check often and leave it set.Your history doesn't sound promising for this, but is there any chance you could get her mother temporarily? If you could, set an open trap, small or regular size that rescue people use, covered with a sheet or something, in front of a carrier in which you've locked mom, back where the kitten disappeared. I know what you're going through -- it's heart breaking. Thoughts and prayers for you and her.

Next questions. Is it long from your home, and or this bridge where she did lived earlier?  If she survives, and it isnt too long, she will perhaps try to return to one of these places.
