My cat, Sophia is pregnant, unsure how far along she is because I am not sure when she got pregnant..But when I took her to the vet about 4 weeks ago they were able to count how many kittens she was probably going to have, looking at maybe 5 or 6 little ones. Over the past couple days I have noticed that she has been acting alittle bit different. But today has been very strange. When I first got up I went to give her a belly rub, those are her favorite right now. But she would let me start rubbing but then she would start biting and freaking out on my. Then I really didn't see her lay down for awhile, like she would try to lay down and then pop right back up, also within an hour I noticed she was in and out of the litter box. Her back is really twitchy. I just didn't know what to expect or anything, so I was hoping for alittle help.

When you rub her tummy, do you feel the babies move?  This is usually felt during the last two weeks.

Here, my guess is she had some pre-contractions.  This is  common.

Have you began with preparing some birthing nest for her?

Welcome to our Forums!

Good luck!

Oh yes we have felt them move. I finally did feel some movement earlier once i freaked that I didn't feel them move this morning. We have been feeling them move for sometime now. I did call the vet because I was concerned I didn't feel anything, and they said they were really sure if they have like pre-contractions like we do.

And yes, well we made a nesting box for her just after we found out she was pregnant, lined with a nice comforter with puppy pads so easy clean up after the birth. She lays in it from time to time, but her spot is at the foot of my bed below me, so I have a feeling i will be buying new sheets soon. lol

Thanks for the welcome! I just need to know I have some people to ask questions to!

Also, I have seen her do this a couple times, my boyfriend will leave a shirt he has worn on the floor, and omg she just loves it! She will rub it and hid her face under it and then start rubbing her face and neck on it. It's odd because I have never seen her do anything like that.

I suppose the worn shirt was rather sweaty?  The behavior quite common, even typical!

Possibly she prefers your BF smell more than yours. It MAY be something about feromones too...   :)

No, def not sweaty it's to cold here to be sweaty. I know that cats do that because I had a cat years ago that did, but it's def strange for her. She loves her daddy, which all came with the pregnancy she wasn't a very friendly cat expect for me because I rescued her when she was 4 weeks old, and she was feral, so she attached to me really bad, so bad I can't go anywhere without her at my feet. But I love her, shes pretty special! I'm excited for her to have these babies, but she looks so funny most of the time because she is a very petite cat so she looks like she swallowed two softballs! And my profile picture is how she was laying yesterday and I thought it was rather cute!

Ah, so it MUST be something with feromones too, not only the sweat.

Not necessarily gender against gender, but male gender.

Our oldest resident, an ex stud, who do loves rubbing used clothes, rubs more often in mine or even our sons clothes, then my wifes.  Although its wife who is his beloved Mom, Im just nr 2 in the hierarchy of pure love.   :)...

It has to be, but I am just glad that she is finding something that is comforting because I can tell she isn't very comfortable anymore.

Oftentimes you won't be able to feel them as much really close to labor because they have moved into the birthing position. So, this coupled with her different behavior could be a sign that she is very close.

Make sure you are with her as much as possible from here on out so that you don't miss the birth. You need to be there for moral support and to help if any complications arise.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

That's what I thought they be moving to get ready, plus there can't be to much more room in there! Vet said we were expecting 5 or6! But I am with her every moment I can be, the only time I am not is when I have to go to work and often times my boyfriend is around when I am not. Getting pretty excited to the see the little rugrats! We aren't sure what the father looks like, seeings how she snuck out while she was in heat, so these babies were a surprise all the way around!

Thank you!

And We will def true to keep you guys posted, and pics will be posted once they do arrive!

We may have kittens soon! Tonight she was wondering around and I went to go check on her and there were like water droplets on the floor! I haven't seen a "mucus plug" but that doesn't mean she didn't eat it. I went to pet her and she let out this death screeching cry. :( but I haven't seen any contractions but it doesn't mean she isn't. Hopefully soon!

She's my baby.
Ive had her since she was about 4 weeks old. She was found behind a hardware store then she was with me! She had a rough start since she was feral...but with love and long sittings of being wrapped in a towel and loved she came around! A lot of people that have met her always tell me they could never tell she was feral because she's so friendly! She's like a little puppy though..she comes when called. She follows me around everywhere..she's certainly the best!:rbheart:

Still nothing...just a lot of sleeping and belly rubs...my poor girl looks so miserable...she spent most of the day wandering around wouldn't relax...now she's sleeping in an odd spot, on a table. Just glad she's found comfort somewhere.
