3 month ish kitty we caught him in the yard when he was around 6 weeks old. he hides under the bed all day but comes out at night to eat and potty, also he shows no interest in playing what so ever. If i can reach him under the bed he does not fight me and i can pick him up he will sit on my lap the entire night while i watch TV and purrs sometimes. but as soon as i set him down he is back under the bed. I really want him to be part of the family any ideas?

It sounds like he does enjoy it when you bring him on your lap so I would continue to do that often. I would also give him a special treat when he comes out so he has a happy association with coming out from under the bed. You could try Rescue Remedy drops for pets or a Feliway diffuser. They can help make him feel comfortable. Both are available on Amazon. It might just take more time. I had a kitten that didn't like to be touched at all and he grew up to be an affectionate , snuggly love bug who bends his head down for kisses and sleeps with me.
 Good luck with your kitty.

Is there anyway you can put the bed/box spring on the floor? Take away the bed frame temporarily until this baby has come out of his shell and gains more confidence. Perfect solution for this problem and then you won't be grabbing and pulling him out from under the bed. Have a couple of other options for the kitten to hide when you put the bed on the floor. Like those kitty cubes or tents that Walmart sells. OR a small cardboard box with a kitty bed inside. OR use a small cat carrier with the door removed and put a kitty bed in that. This way, you can still reach the kitten easy but yet he has a little hiding spot.
