Our new kitty Turtle, sounds like a cat that has been smoking for many years but we don't smoke and she's not been in a smokers home.  Is this normal for kittens?  It sounds more like a scream than a meow.  Anyone have experience with this?  Also, when she wakes up from a nap, it takes some time for her voice to warm-up and be able to make any sound.  I'm wondering if this is something that will go away, if it's just the way her voice will sound, or something that needs to be checked out by a vet.  Just like to hear some opinions!

Thanks

Can you ask the person you got him from if his voice has been like that from the start?

It sounds like he has a sore throat, but some cats simply have a croaky voice.

My Wobbel squeeks like a bird, if he makes any sound at all.....

I called the lady who rescued her, and apparently Turtle has always kind of hard a scream-meow and has been hoarse when she wakes up.  I think it sounds kind of cute, but also worry that it might be something medical.

I have 3 cats and they all have different sounding meows.  One is a throaty, hoarse-sounding "rarrr", not a true meow.  It's most likely just her normal voice.
