I had sonic for lunch today around 11:00. Around 2, I had the worst headache, the kind behind my eyeball
So, I ended up taking 3 tylenols (ya, I know... not too smart?), by the time I left work at 4p, I felt jittery, but figured it was because of my iced tea or maybe taking the extra tylenol. I kept praying on the way home, that I would not have to throw up because that's how I was feeling. Well, I ended up throwing up twice in a row, the second time, food came up. Sorry for being graphic
I still have this bad headache and it still is making me feel nauceous.
I had a piece of pizza around 6 (half a piece) hoping it would go away, but it didnt.
Is this a migraine headache or food poisoning. I've had food poisioning twice before, but never a headache that has lasted this long.

Tigger, migraines differ for each person who suffers from them, but some of the common symptoms are extreme headache, nauseousness, and sensitivity to light and/or sound. The headache part can last anywhere from 30 minutes to days, even weeks at a time.

In my unprofessional opinion, it sounds migraine-like to me. But that's because I get extreme pain (all the time) and upset stomach (often) with my migraines.

It could also be a combination of a headache and food poisoning. Or a headache and an upset stomach if something didn't agree with you from your lunch.

I don't know much about food poisoning - I don't think I've ever had it.

My best suggestion is to try Excedrin for the headache (unless you can't have aspirin). Although it doesn't always help with migraines, it's one of the best OTC meds for my migraines, and it might help with your aching head.

Hope you feel better!

I would just like to say that it is likely migraines. Food poisoning takes 18-24 hours generally to develop, so it is unlikely from the food you ate at the restaurant. And taking that many tylenol doesn't really hurt you, as far as I know. If it did, I should be almost dead by now! At one point I was taking 3 extra strength tylenol at one time, 2 or 3 times a day. Then it quit working b/c my body got immune to it (if that's possible), so I started taking advil (advice from my doctor to try that instead of tylenol), and I was taking 4 advil at a time, at least a couple of times a day. I am now trying Aleve (which I can't seem to find up here in Canada, but my brother got some for me when he went south to the states to see his gf...weird). Anyways, I only took one of them so far to see what the side effects would be and never noticed anything unusual, so I'll have to try some more lol. Like I said, if it was gonna hurt you, you'd be pretty much dead already! lol

Hope you get better tho. Being sick sucks!

If this is the first time something like this has happened, then you really should see a doctor. Migraine is a medical syndrome, and it would be odd for it to suddenly appear like that, with no previous indication. And a severe headache, even if its not migraine, would make your stomach upset too. I get really bad sinus headaches, and they are accompanied by nausea sometimes.

One thing that gets me in prepared food is MSG. That gives me a splitting headache, often before the meal is over. So it could be something in the food, even if you don't have food poisoning.

And I think its funny that you would try a piece of pizza to see if your stomach was settled. I usually start with something boring like dry toast.... But cheese, spicy tomato sauce, pepperoni, whatever. I should try that next time.

You didn't say what you had for food. Certain meats and certain vegetables can cause a bad food reaction. What you mention sounds more like a food allergy, though, I had the exact same thing happen to me when I found out I was allergic to coconut (had a piece of cake with coconut). It could possibly be a migraine too as some migraines cause nausea and vomiting.

No, it isn't the first time this happened. IT happended once last year, and then twice before that year. I never have mentioned it to the doctor. I figured it was a caffeine headache when I've had them.
Whatever it was, it's gone now.

It does sound like you had a migraine. I also throw up when I get a migraine (that's the worst part, as far as I'm concerned-I hate throwing up). Even if you feel better, you should make an appointment with your doctor. There are so many good migraine medications available now, the doctor should be able to find what works best for you.
