I am new to the forum- I found it as my beloved cat of 20 years is beginning to experience health issues.

She is what the vets assume to be half siamese (we don't know who her parents were, but she has the body, face shape and ears of a siamese along with the rather strident voice and personality).  She's black all over with big almond-shaped green eyes, the lightest mint green.  In the past five years her once black whiskers have all turned white and she's gone a bit salt and peppery throughout her coat.  Her favourite game is playing fetch, she totally ignores laser pointers, she carries her toys around in her mouth and howls whilst doing so and she meets us at the door with extensive scoldings whenever we come home.  She sits on command, sleeps in a basket next to our bed and is extremely obedient, more like a dog than most cats.

I've had her since I was 12 years old.  She was found dumped in a box with another emaciated adult cat so I never experienced her as a kitten.  When I was 21 and at university my parents moved states and when they let her out after two weeks (she was an outside only farm cat at that point), she promptly disappeared for three months.  We miraculously got her back, but she tested positive for FIV.  Since then she has been an indoors-only cat and has loved it.  She walks on a lead and harness, rides around on my shoulder, moved with me from Washington DC to Wales, England, then Scotland for work, moved back to DC with me again (sigh, work), lived in Germany for a bit and made the move from the US to to Swtizerland last year (marriage- mine not hers!).  She travels amazingly well on planes and in cars and doesn't seem to mind it a bit but tends to get train sick.  She is my shadow and stops eating if I leave her for more than a few days, though she has taken very well to my husband (but doesn't obey him!).  She hates all other animals but is the perfect hostess, going to all house guests in turn to welcome them and demand some attention.

We are happy to offer advice based on personal experience about traveling internationally or domestically with a cat, moving house and staying in hotels with a kitty and look forward to meeting everyone on the forums!
