A neighbor had fed her cats friskies or 9 lives dry food. A neighbor has a free roaming chicken, and it eagerly gobbles up the dry food which is loaded with corn and grains, clearly not good for cats but chickens love it! I tried feeding the cats blue buffalo dry food and they love it but the chicken won't touch it, too much protein and no corn that's why!

The squirrels have been eating/stockpiling my ferals' Cat Chow. . .

But both chickens and squirrels will eat meat if given the chance. Did you know squirrels will eat baby birds from a nest? Eww. And chickens eat grasshoppers/crickets/grubs/etc. all the time. Not that I think cheap cat food has much meat in it, just saying.

Yes I forgot about the squirrels, besides raccoons and possums squirrels love any dry cat food, and I have seen squirrels eating bird eggs.
I do know chickens eat insects, and that starving chickens have been known to eat dead chickens, but healthy chickens eating beef and fish I have never seen, which is probably why the expensive dry food is rejected it probably tastes horrible. The cheaper brand with corn and wheat and a little poultry they love, though I wonder how the cats didnt try to make a meal of the chicken yet...

You would be surprised at what is in industrial chicken food.  After all, they go from just-hatched to processing in 6 weeks.

atleast shes feeding the cats, after reading of people hoarding pets in their house and not feeding them, or giving them a drop of water. i no longer criticize people of what they feed their pets, just the fact that they are feeding them is a good thing.
