Okay, I was cleaning the litter box today and noticed that one of my cats has Diarrhea. The problem is I have 8 cats and I have to figure out which cat has the diarrhea. So I guess I can put each one, one at a time in a seperate room too see which cat has diarrhea? Anyways, I was wondering what kind of illnesses could my cat have? or could it be that he just ate something bad, it passes through his system and it will eventually clear up? Or is it something else? Any ideas?

It could be a lot of different things.  But I would first somehow try to figure out which one(s) is/are having the diarrhea.  Once your figure that out, take the sample to the vet where they can check for any parasites and go from there.  You have to rule those out though.  Good luck!

What could it also mean if she has diarrhea and is losing weight. Could it be related to each other? I have an appointment for her in Nov, and I was wondering if the two could be related? I am really worried about my cat Charlie could be getting sick? Although the diarrhea has gotten better on it's own, what if she has some kind of illness?

I would be careful in waiting till November with a cat that is loosing weight and recently with diarrhea, even though November is just a week away, if your cat is loosing weight that maybe too long depending on what is causing it.

I mean I am not a vet... so forgive me if I am talking out of place... I am a worry bug with my guys and have been going through diarrhea and tests that come back negative, meds that are not working (we are on our second round) and it's been a MONTH! But weight loss is under control for us. My cats are also both kittens and so it could be anything, and I assme you have had yours for sometime? And this maybe something sudden.

If your cat is losing weight, she should be seen now. Please don't wait until next month, the sooner illness is diagnosed, the better the cat's chances. Weight loss in cats is very dangerous.

Okay, so we took Charlie to the vet early and the blood test came back for her today...my cat has Liver Damage and it will cost over 2,000$ to fix her and even then the doctor said she might not be 100% better ever. So now what? She will not eat or take her medicine, she does not drink water, she throws up everywhere now and she's very weak. My parents all say I should put her down. What should I do? I don't know what to do...

If she is dehydrated she will feel horrible.  Subcutaneous fluids are a cheap and very effective way of treating this, and are something that you can do at home once you've been shown how.  I would certainly give those a try.

However she HAS to eat.  Not eating for several days is bad in it's own right for a cat's liver.  You will have to force-feed her until she starts eating on her own.  If you really can't do that then maybe pts is indeed the best course.

I'm curious what the Vet means that she can be fixed for $2000. Do you have any specifics on the blood work?  Is the cat jaundiced (yellow eyes, gums, etc)? What type of food do you normally feed her?

Liver damage can be caused by any number of things. Not knowing any more details,  the comment OrientalSlave made is crucial - She has to eat. I'm in the process of nursing a 14 y.o. cat back from dental surgery. Over the weekend, I had to essentially 'make' her eat. There are lots of ways to achieve this - baby food, Fancy Feast, etc.  Here is a link to a CRF site that discusses ways to 'make' your baby eat. Maybe you can figure something out from there. The key is persistence and patience.

Good luck

The link is?  If you mean this one - http://www.felinecrf.org/  - it's a huge site, a more specific one would be very helpful.

Unfortunately you can't hang around deciding what to do.  Either you start your cat on fluids and force feeding today, or very sadly you need to put her to sleep.

If you get baby food make sure there are no onions or garlic in it.  Read the ingredients on the back label - they may be there but not mentioned on the front label.

I have a feeling something caused this kitty to not eat and this is hepatic lipidosis... The $2000 are probably feeding tube, meds, etc.
To the op, if this is the case, your cat CAN get better with your intervention, but the "medicine" for it is food.
You HAVE to syringe feed this cat until he starts eating on his own. If you don't, he will die.
Ask the vet for nausea medication. He can give that for you, it will not cost you $2,000. Ask for cerenia. Also ask for an appetite stimulant.
While there, get several cans of Hills A/D is a recovery food.
On the first couple of days you will mix it with water, the instructions are on the hills website. From The third day on you will give pure.
She needs to eat the entire amount he would eat per day if she was healthy. So, if she ate a can a day while healthy, you need to force feed her a can a day. Do it on small meals, divided in several meals, feed 1 to 1.5 ounces at a time, no more than that.
You can buy syringes at any pet store- the best brand is called Four Paws. They sell at puppies and small mammals sessions.
You can do this, it takes time and work, but many people here have done it.... Don't waste any time, you have to start NOW. You can start with baby food until you go to the vet. But do understand, food is life-saving for her at this point. :vibes:

My bad!! Thanks. This is the exact spot on Tanya's site about persuading a cat to eat
