i live in miami, florida, if its ever cold its during the winter, this will be my first winter with my cat. when it does get cold here, it can be quite cold (not snowing cold obviously, but cold for someone thats live in florida all her life! lol) i was wondering if i should buy my kitty a heated bed, but im not sure if she will use it?

even now i think the house is a little cold, although i try to keep the AC on 67-70 degrees. but i still feel her fur cold in the morning. should i go ahead and buy her a heated bed?

I don't know if they sell heated beds?  I haven't seen them?  Though I am sure it is possible.  Cats love to be warm but probably not that warm.  Just a condo or house with a big, fluffy, soft bed should do.  Cats are good about snuggling.  Plus, don't waste your money, most of the time, they prefer our body heat in the winter over any electonically heated source anyway.  My guess is, kitty will snuggle with you!!  But, if you must spend your money, don't go the heated bed way just go the other way I told you is my advice.

I honestly think she'll be fine.

I remember about 20 years ago I had an immunocompromised cat who needed special care and I bought her a weight-activated electric blanket (I think they were a very new thing at the time).  It was wonderful for her as I lived in a much colder climate and when I wasn't around I didn't need to heat the house.. she would curl up on that.  But I wouldn't consider it unless I was in that situation again.

we have pretty mild winters here, my cats love heated beds. Or a hot water bottle under a blanket.

My cats have a heated bed.  I head it up for them.

They do like the radiator beds, when the heating comes on, but in summer (Scotland) they usually don't bother coming to get warm on me.

The last few days it has been chilly in the morning, and the ladies and I keep each other warm.  Me under the blanket (and them) and them on top of it. I set the central heat at 65 or 66.

Rocky will be 14 soon and is arthritic. I've also been considering a heated or self warming bed for him, but may end up buying three, one for each cat if they're that popular!

An average of 15-18c is far milder than the eastern states, no snow here
That's quite acceptable!  I'm ex Tasmanian and lived a while in Melbourne and just assumed it would be similar.

Tassie and Melbourne are cold, the cats don't quite agree it's milder here hence their love of heated beds

I also am from south Australia,  Port Augusta.   my two boys are 16 and 10 I got a heated bed for tiny because of his arthritis,  these two are insperable,  and love each other dearly,  but when Misty tried to use his heated   bed,  tiny put on a real paddy,  spitting, and growling.   so now its two heated beds,     and they spend many hours,  curled up ,  warm , safe,  and contented

Welcome to TCS!

This thread is a few years old now but one of my favorite topics every time it comes up now!  Noodles was over grooming her belly so I bought her a heated bed when I found a good deal on Amazon.  She LOVED it!  But she had an accident in it and even though I washed it right away; I just couldn't get the smell all the way out (I really didn't have enough enzyme cleaner for a plush bed!).  So I was checking prices on them from time to time on Amazon.  One day I found an INCREDIBLE deal on the larger size of her bed!  I snapped that up!  And as soon as we got it home; Mooch claimed it as HER bed!
So poor Noodles is still sleeping in a box with a baby folded baby blanket.  Mooch hasn't even experienced the heat in it since it's summer here.  They are litter mates; but they are NOT sharing that bed!

I know some dogs like lying on a heated beds in winter, but not sure cats will like that.
