Hello,

My 12 year old female Cat Fiji was diagnoised with small cell lymphoma. For the
last several weeks she has been on a regiment of 5mg Prednisolone and 5 mg
Pepcid 2xs per day. Last week Fiji started taking 2mg of Lukeran every other
day.

Overall she seems to be tolerating the medicine very well. She seems to be
acting good and eating very well. We did have one incident of vomiting. But
that seemed isolated and was about a week ago.

However, I have noticed that Fiji is drinking a lot more water lately. I
understand that Prednisolone can cause a cat to become diabetic. What would the
symptoms of this be?

Also, I have noticed a larger amount (volume) of urine in the liter box. We
have also noticed some abnormal behavior by Fiji when it comes to her urinating
and bowel movements. She urinated in the corner of our bedroom on a blanket.
She also has been having bowel movements outside of the liter box. She has been
poohing in the corner of the bathroom behind the toilet. She is not always
doing this, but I have noticed it occuring a few times over the last few days.
Also, the nature of her bowel movement appears dry and in small clumps. In the
liter box, there also seems to be a more than normal amount of pooh.

Should I be concerned about the behaviors she is exhibiting?

Firstly I think you should discuss this with your vet.  However it is my understanding that cats on drugs like pred drink more anyway.

Yes, you should be concerned, and you should call the vet for an appointment. She should have a urinalysis done and she should have bloodwork done to make sure everything's on track. When Lazlo was on chemo, even though he had (has) large cell lymphoma and it was a different protocol, he had blood work done weekly, initially, and then every other week to keep track of any potential problems.
