GET THEM ON WET FOOD AND DRY COMBO . The food should be Id science diet prescription or rd prescription. Ponazuril will kick it one dose . If you have gardia then the poo is most time like water and a greenish color . Pumpkin in the food helps and the probotic you will need is Vetri-Science Vetri-Mega Probiotic buy it on entirely pets for half of what amazon sells it for

Thank you everyone! Our adopted babies are so much better. We switched vets. I paid $68 on three different occasions for them to check the kittens poopy through a microscope, $14 for the albon medication on three different occasions. The fourth and final time, my husband dropped off the sample at 10AM. By 4PM they still hadn't checked it out. The drive there and back was an hour round trip. After viewing this site, your advice and information, I called a different vet. They got me in immediately, and they are 2 miles from our home! Our kitten did not have Coccidia, but she did have giardia. The vet said she may very well have been cured of coccidia, but that the giardia was just as dangerous and contagious to us - the humans - we have 2 children, which upped the urgency to get rid of whatever was ailing our kittens. He placed her on 2 medications, one being amoxicillin.

I am happy to report, that our kittens are healthy, vibrant, feisty, and we are so happy, relieved! I do use pumpkin in their food approximately every other day. I also, because our dogs seemed interested, give them pumpkin in their food too.

We have 4 very happy, healthy pets.

Thank you all for posting your stories, your advice, your experience. I believe it truly saved our new adopted orphans to have a chance at healthy, fulfilling lives. :rbheart:

We are going through the same thing with out kitties. Had one with coccidia about 2 months ago. Sterilized and disinfected everything with ammonia solution. After a month and a clean bill of health we adopted 4 new kitties. 2 of them have coccidia. 2 are well and one had uri. So they are all in separate rooms in he house. The uri kitty is better now aside from the tapeworm she's being treated for. The coccidia kitties are so very sick. Have lost 8 oz each in 48 hours. have been to the vet and they are on albon, diagel, pro pectalin, pyrantel, and Panacur. I can't get them to eat though. I'm so worried. Feeding pedalyte from a syringe.

Newmamaof3, please ask your vet about Ponazuril. It kills coccidia much, much faster and more effectively than Albon.

The vet we saw today was an ER vet. With my first kitten who had coccidia a couple of months ago she had never heard of Ponazuril. We switched vets so I will call our regular vet in the morning. To my knowledge there is only one pharmacy in our area that will compound Ponazuril but I am afraid that most vets in this area won't write a prescription for that in kittens.

I believe Roadrunner and Wedgewood also sell it, so you could have a vet send the rx there if they will prescribe it. I have heard of many others using it for kittens, just needs to be the right dosage.

Thanks! I will call my vet in the morning. I saw where Wedgwood could fill it. I assume this is mail order.

We've continued with albon and the kittens are well but my vet did his research and ordered us the Ponazuril so we will do that today!

I have kitten with Cocci and I was wondering if anyone knows the dosage of Baycox for cats.  I have goats and treat them with it so I have it on hand.  The kitten is small and I'm sure the goat dose will not do.  I can do my own fecals so I know this is what he has.

What about Corid?  Anyone know the dosage info for kittens?  I pulled five kittens out of our barn and they have cocci.  After the diagnosis, I told our vet that we had Corid on hand because of the farm and they said just google what others have done as far as dosage but I haven't found anything for kittens or cats.  I use 3/4 tsp of the powder in one gallon water for chickens, typically.

I've never heard anyone using Corid to treat cats/dogs.

I have always had great success using Ponazril, which you might also have on hand at the farm? You do have to dilute the paste, but typically 3 days of treatment and you're good!

I honestly do not know if you can get it at TSC or not. We always order from a animal compounding pharmacy (Roadrunner Pharmacy).

Your vet could call it in to them. Roadrunner ships to the lower 48. They do offer expedited shipping for $16-$20 extra (2 day or overnight). Regular shipping isn't much and items typically arrive in 5 business days.

Hi everyone. I am so relieved to find this post! I've had cats all of my life, 4 in all, each living well past 15 years, but never have I had one with coccidia. My husband and I adopted 2 girls from the local shelter, and one of the little ones has coccidia. However, and this is where the posts, particularly Catwoman's posts, have helped the most: Leeloo's been on Albon going on one month. The vet has had us bring in a poop sample from both girls each week costing $67, then we trek back to pick up the meds, a $14 charge each time. After having read about ponazuril, I am a just a tad frustrated (and feeling a tad sarcastic to boot). I've just placed a call in to see if we can get a prescription of ponazuril and be done with this already. I feel like we've been led around to line someone's wallet.

I have noticed that Leeloo's feeling better, she is putting on a bit of weight, but you can still feel her hip/bottom bones. I do feed them dry food (4 health from Tractor Supply Company as recommended by the adoption agency).

Any other advice? I surely wish we could purchase such medications without the aid or prescription from a vet.

Thank you for all of your advice, and your shared stories. I'll be giving them a bit of moist food, too.
