Hi all,

So, after 2 years and 29 pregnant cat and kitten fosters I am finally adding foster failure to my resume and keeping one!

He was born here in foster with me and is now 9 weeks old. I named the litter the city/state babies (Jersey, Dakota, Diego, Boston, and Quincy) and have decided to keep Diego. Or, rather, Diego has decided that he's quite comfy here and does not feel the need the relocate.

He has no fear and will climb anything and everything. That said, he is the most affectionate kitten I have ever interacted with. He does this hilarious thing where if you hold him in your hand and flip him on his back and rub his belly he falls asleep. I call it his patented "shark move." He purrs up a storm and loves to snuggle in.  He has a big sister, a 2.5 year old torbie named Ella who he loves to give nose kisses to (she surprisingly tolerates it).

So, my kitten dilemma is: do I keep his name Diego or do I change it? Here are some of my favorites thus far:

- Diego

- Atticus

- Avery

- Sawyer

- Mosby

The friends and fam are totally unhelpful, each with their own favorite name. Tell me what you think- I'm open to any of these or any suggestions!

Of course, how can you name a baby without pictures! Try not to fall in love too much!

Okay, I had to add one with big sister Ella. This is their bonding pose!

I love him, he's such a doll!

Personally, I like Atticus the best, but I think you should try calling him a few times each name and see which one he choses. He might already respond better to some names than other. :)

So cute!

I like Diego. I have 4 foster failures( I failed in pairs). I thought of renaming them from their foster names but I had already been calling them their names and they had just stuck in my head. :lol3:

I have an Ella by the way, she is all white like your new baby. :D

Great photos of pure preciousness! :rbheart: :rbheart:

Your choices - I like Atticus the best. I also respectfully submit for consideration:

Cary
Halo
Kirby, and
Bartholomew

Love naming pets though it can be a challenge. Good luck and congratulations on your adorable new babe!

He's a cutie!  I also like the name Diego, and since the name is listed at the top of your list too, and you gave him that name initially, I think you also see him as "Diego".

Why don't you send him to me and I will observe him and tell you his name in 3 or 4 years.
Actually, I think he already is a Diego.

Thank you all for your fun replies! Most of you are right, it has been between Diego and Atticus for some time. As much as I love the name Atticus (and I think the nickname pairing of Atty and Ella is just adorable) I do feel like Diego is just his name: I've called him that since birth and it just suits him. But, it's still fun to show him off and hear what you all think!

Since I am obviously a die hard foster I have to add that the girls (Jersey and Dakota) are being adopted together and the twin boys (Boston and Quincy) have been adopted together as well. The shelter pulled Mom from me last week (but that is a whole other story and drama in itself) so we are just waiting on surgeries for them to go home.

In the end it all worked out perfectly: everyone has a companion and no one has to go back to the shelter!
So cute!

Haha glad I'm not the only failure! Actually most people are surprised I held out this long! I'm glad you have an Ella too- it's probably my favorite name ever!

Oh I like these- especially Kirby. That's too cute!
I like Diego too. Beautiful kitten btw
Thanks
You almost had me persuaded to wait for an orange tabby with those adorable pictures of Beans, but as we all know in cat land you don't chose, you are chosen! Pretty happy being selected by this little guy!

Hahahaha oh yes I will just get right on that!

The first picture you posted is the cutest!  He looks 1/2 asleep there, and those giant ears laying flat like airplane wings!  Way adorable!

I like Diego but....he looks like a Felix to me!
Oh I like that name too! You're making it harder than it already was!

Why thank you! You totally get it that them looking good together was a critical piece in making the decision. I couldn't have them color clashing in pictures!

I like Diego too. He looks like a Diego. If not, then Toby, Sam, Max, Riley, Jack, Marley or Charley. I also had a cat called Joey.
