So i ended up adopting 2 of my foster kittens and i havent had cats since i was little. The rescue had me using kitten chow and friskies, probably because its cheap, so i have beern feeding them that but i know i need to change their food. I am a little nervous to hange because there are so many brands put there to choose from and i dont know whats best for kittens. Any help on brands of food would be great

Congrats on the new babies!!!

You will get a lot of advice here.  I'm making an assumption here and saying the kitten chow is kibble and the Friskies is wet.  That is how I'm basing my answer.  If I'm incorrect please feel free to correct me!

Yes, there are a lot of brands to choose from.  I think maybe the first thing you will want to do is decide what fits into your budget and then try to get the most nutrition for your buck.  For now you may want to leave the kitten chow as is, or, transition to a premium brand over the course of about 2 weeks.  I don't know what the main source of your kitties diet is.  If it's kibble, you might want to gradually reduce the intake of kibble and give more wet in your kittie's diet.  If the major source of your kittie's diet is wet, you can begin rotating different brands, flavors and textures right away.  Cats don't usually need a transition period for a wet diet but they will for a kibble diet.

Waltham Center for Pet Nutrition states that an ideal diet for a cat is an 80% wet to 20% dry diet.  I personally have my cats on a 90% wet diet to a 10% kibble.  I give them to kibble to graze on between their wet meals.

There are a lot of fine foods on the market for you to try.  I'd say rotate them and find the ones your cats like the most.  You can check out the 2 lines my company makes at http://www.nutro.com/natural-cat-food.aspx.  The Nutro Max Cat is the more economical line of the 2.  My cats eat the Nutro Max Cat Indoor Roasted Chicken kibble.  For wet they get the Nutro Max Cat and Nutro Natural Choice wet foods.  I also buy several other premium brands of wet to give them a variety of textures and flavors.

Enjoy your new babies! I know you will find the perfect diet for your babies and for your budget!

The kittens are given dry food all the time, though they hardly eat it, and are given wet food 2-3 times a day depending on them.  It was a little funny because this morning I put down their friskies and they ignored it but I had gotten a sample of solisitc, a grain free food, and put that down and they ate it all right away.  So I think I will be making a stop at the pet store after work, other suggestions on food would be great, which flavors does your like the best, I heard that a few different brands is the best thing to do?  ANd thank you for your response I will slowly change their dry food.

Great on the grain free!  Flavor wise my cats like the Nutro Max venison and duck flavors.  Flavor wise you might be a little more restricted if you limit the wet to kitten food.  There are not as many options out there for textures and flavors when it comes to kitten food.  Most that I have seen have been the pate' textures.  As far as brands;  I'm going to let the other posters post their preferences regarding the other brands.  I work for Nutro and I'm not going to endorse or denigrate other brands.  That said, I will say any of the premiums mentioned here will probably be just fine.  I answer this way because there are certain brands that will not be endorsed because all of us have kinda the same opinion on them.  If you decide to buy Nutro products, look at others in the same aisle and read labels.  It's confusing but no matter what you buy it will probably be okay.  Check out the Fancy Feast classics too while you're at it.  Petsmart's brand is either Soulistic or Simply Nourish.  I get them mixed up. From what I've read it would be good to check out.  The major brands will probably be okay too.

Mix 'em and match 'em and have fun while you're at it.  You can be sure you're doing what is best for your furkidz

Brands I suggest for your rotation are Weruva, Nature's Variety Instinct 95%, By Nature, Wellness Grain Free, and Tiki Cat (chicken flavors).
If they liked Soulistic, they will love Weruva and Tiki Cat for sure!
