Okay so I knew corn was bad so when we got the kitties a few days ago I told my husband to get something with no corn so he got Simply Nourish Chicken & Rice Kitten Food (I copied and pasted the info from PetSmart on it below) But I keep seeing on here how wet food is best
( I don't think we are quite up to raw)
What wet food should I start with? The shelter was feeding them dry Purina and told me to do the same but it has corn in it so I didn't get it. I see some people talk about Fancy feast and Whiskas a lot as well as something called Evo. Any suggestions would be appreciated I'd like to get them on something and keep them fairly consistent as soon as possible. I'm not sure if it is good for them to change food to often??

A good variety of canned food is best. Especially since they're young and you can get them used to it. It shouldn't bother their tummies to eat a wide variety if you start young. So get some of everything! :D

What's your budget and store selection? Friskies paté is frequently recommended as an inexpensive choice, and Fancy Feast Classics, while not cheap, are grain-free and easily found just about everywhere. But neither is especially high-quality. There are a lot of better choices if you can afford them and find them in your area (or order online).

I'm not sure, I mean we need to be budget friendly as possible but I want them to eat healthy and not get any junk or bad stuff. Are there any really healthy but still affordable wet foods? So that we know they are getting what they need but we don't break the bank. We have a petsmart and a feed store nearby.

We do Authority wet. It's $.80 for a 6 oz. can on sale (of which there are many). We read the labels and it seems like decent quality stuff. It's the store brand for Petsmart.

Granted, our one cat is having urine crystal issues, but I doubt the canned food is causing it. They just don't get the fish flavors.

Hi

What type of stores do you have access to in your area?
Walmart, kmart, PetSmart, Saluda River Pet food Center and a few grocery stores like Ingles and  Bilo's

Hmmm well I tried to respond to the question about what stores we have but it told me my post had to be approved by the moderator?  We have walmart, kmart, Ingles, Bilo's, Saluda river pet food and petsmart.

I know I am pretty new but any ideas on why sometimes the site tells me my post has to be approved by a mod and sometimes it just lets me post?

If you have a Petsmart you'll have a lot of different varieties to choose from.  I mix up my cat's wet diet to include a lot of different brands.  Most of their wet is from the company I work for.  My company makes Nutro Max Cat and Nutro Natural Choice http://www.nutro.com/natural-pet-food/natural-cat-food.aspx   Nutro Max Cat is the more economical of the 2 but is still a premium food.  Mine get both.  Their kibble is Nutro Max Cat Indoor Roasted Chicken.  They won't eat any other kind of kibble and I've tried several
I buy a lot of other brands of wet food.  I usually buy premium brands but would not hesitate to buy FF classics if my budget was more modest.  I believe Soulistic and Authority are Petsmart's own brands if I'm not mistaken.

Mix and match 'em LOL!  It's also best to transition to a dry food over the period of a couple of weeks.  You don't need to transition wet food but dry should be transitioned in order not to disrupt their tummies.

Best of luck in your food quest!
