It's that time of year again! Time for Thanksgiving. This year in addition to the turkey I'm doing the  traditional stuffing, cranberry sauce, white potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, carots, and of course the gravy and country style rolls. For dessert I'm doing cherry pie, 2 pumpkin pies, and chocolate tarts.

What are on your tables this Thanksgiving?

Since it's only ever just DH & I, we keep it simple. Last year, we discovered that our fave restaurant takes pre-orders for take-out Thanksgiving dinner. It's only $30 per person--2 HUGE boxes of excellent food, which lasted us nearly 2 weeks with leftovers.  I didn't eat the turkey, as I hate re-heated poultry, but the rest was great--especially the pumpkin bread pudding, with creme fraiche and whiskey sauce. The chef/owner uses the best-quality ingredients, and everything, even the pickles and mayonnaise, is home-made. (Not that there are pickles and mayo with this meal, though!)  We plan to do the same this year. That's fine with me--I hate cooking turkey. It would be nice if the food were ate the restaurant, but they are closed for service that day.

OOPS, I see you are in Canada--do you mean the Canadian Thanksgiving (isn't that in October???). Sorry!

We already had ours since l work Sun, Mon, and Tue.

l found a recipe online for making the turkey upside down, and it was delish (l'm not a good cook).

We had Turkey & gravy, stuffing, potatoes, carrots, rutabaga, parsnips, cabbage, and Brussels sprouts.

I usually roast a turkey, make stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, deviled eggs, open a can of cranberry sauce and a can of green beans
, and do brown-n-serve rolls.  The desserts vary from year to year.  I favor banana pudding.  Peas with pearl onions from a can were a Thanksgiving staple with my meal, but I can't find them anymore!  I have found them in the frozen section, but I know they just wouldn't be the same.

We are having dinner with my mom and sister tomorrow. We are making turkey, green beans, stuffing, Pillsbury crescents, mashed potatoes, turnip and gravy. Normally my husband stuffs the turkey, but the only turkey we could find was pre-stuffed. There is a turkey shortage here and stores have signs up saying they are sold out, so we got whatever turkey we could find. On Sunday, we will have hot turkey sandwiches and next week we will make turkey rice soup.

Dinner with my whole family is Sunday, but we are skipping it. My cousin has been really sick (but it won't stop her from going) and we are afraid to get sick from her and anyone she has passed it to. Hubby and I can't afford to get sick since our daughter is in the hospital and we wouldn't be able to see her.

The rolls I'm making are Pilsbury brand. My turkey was bought only last week. I'm glad we bought it when we did. The next day they were sold out.

Hope your daughter comes home soon

You guys are making me hungry!!!

I don't blame you for skipping the dinner if your cousin is sick. I hope the baby can get out of the hospital soon and come home with you.

My sister sent me a text from my family dinner and said half of my family was sick. I am glad we didn't go. We missed a family announcement though, one of my cousins is 8 weeks pregnant. She's the last one to get married and have a baby in my family other than my sister who is only 18. We've all been waiting to hear she's pregnant for a while now.
All of my cousins are mid-30's and up and I am 26.

And thanks, I hope so too. She's doing really well and getting big. She's almost doubled her birth weight.
They still say to expect her home for my due date (November 15) but the one nurse told me the other day she expects her home before November. I hope so.
