Epilepsy

On Tuesday night my 4 year old cat, Belle, had a seizure. I took her to the emergency vet. Why do pet crises always happen at night or when regular vets are closed? Anyway, she didn't appear to have anything wrong with her but the fit, so it's probably epilepsy. My regular vet said we will monitor her to see if they are frequent. She's been OK for the last couple of days, but some of my other cats now act like they hate her.I thought it was because she smelled like the vet, but it's been 2 days. Her brother is the worst. he has been trying to attack her. Fortunately, not all the cats are acting that way, but she's been through enough. Now she hides a fair bit of the time because when she comes out in the open, she gets attacked. I feel so bad about it and I don't know why it's happening, unless those particular cats saw it happen and are freaked out. Has anyone else experienced this?

Cats can tell when another cat is "different"...or weaker.

I had a sick cat once and a couple of the others would turn on him.  It didn't have anything to do with the vet "smell" they come home with.  Just that something was not right with this cat.

I hope you can find a safe area for your kitty to escape to.

Thank you. I was afraid it was something like that. She has a particular kitchen chair that she goes to and the others generally don't bother her there, but if she goes up to certain cats, like her brother, for affection she gets hissed at. Thank goodness it's not all the cats, but it's sad to see her own brother so mean to her when they used to get along fine.

BTW, I noticed in another thread someone mentioned charity organizations that help with vet bills. Who are they?

I have ;heard of them but I think they are different in different parts of the country.  What has helped me with vet bills is care credit.  As long as your vet is a participating vet, you can apply online, phone, or right in the vets office.  You can apply and use the same day.

Go to www.carecredit.com.  It sure helps me from time to time.
