The microchip seems to be hurting her!

Khaleesi got spayed and chipped Monday, and while the spay is healing up nicely she seems to be bothered by the microchip. When she first got home I could feel the microchip, or I could feel the scab because when I pet her I felt a stiff little rice sized thing to the right of her shoulder blades. Well now, 4 days later she is constantly licking and biting at her shoulder where I felt it, and whatever it was seems to be gone. I can't feel anything there anymore but Khaleesi keeps licking it and going at it that she has a constant wet spot over it. Is this normal after a microchip injection? It seems to really be bugging her

Poor thing.  I've never noticed it with my 4 cats.  I'd give the vet a call, for sure. 

Not normal with all the kittens I've had chipped, they don't notice a thing afterwards.

Same here.  Never any problems.

I'm wondering whether licking or 'worrying' at the site has become self-perpetuating.. she keeps at it, so it creates its own problem.  But really it's a case of asking the vet.
