I know....I admit I am so anxious for them to be friends...AK loved Taco and seems so sad without his friend of 8 yrs...so trust me when I say I am following the rules, exchanging scents, switching rooms, feeding snacks at opposite sides of door...the works...I just so badly want them to be friends,  being they are both older Im certain itll take even longer....I have to laugh at myself, I tell my hubby I am driving myself to an early grave with all MY stressing...lol...

I will have to find the calming stuff everyone suggessted it but I havent tried it. She was on buprenorphine but I ran out. So now it is just the antibitoic. I have read and heard that this can happen after a pyle infection and will take weeks to reverse her new attitude. She was always the one picked on now she is the one picking on. Its crazy....One day at a time it is going to be a very long next few weeks. She hates the room. Wont drink out of the bowls in here only eat if I am here. and will barely use the litter box she will hold it forever. I need to get her back on track but cant until she stops atatcking.
So you continued to give her the buprenex, the vet didn't give you a different pain medication? Since she had a bad reaction to the first dose, it stands to reason that this medication was half her problem. Hopefully now that she is no longer taking it, she will begin to come back to her own self. I wouldn't bother with the "antidepressants" the vet prescribed, frankly. Why not wait and see how she recovers on her own. She is being overloaded with chemicals!

Regarding stress:

Just remember that cats are emotional barometers and are going to pick up on your stress. If you walk around the house radiating tension and worry, the cats are going to react in negative ways.

Take steps to reduce your own stress, and that will help them. Go outside for a quick walk. Sit down for ten minutes with a cup of hot tea and milk (the milk has a sedative effect). Deep breathing exercises and stretching can also help calm you.

Take care of yourself first, so you are more equipped to take care of everyone else.

Easier said than done, I realize but with practice you can learn to calm yourself amazingly well, even in highly stressful times.

yea i know i need to take that break I spend no joke at least 20 hours a day in this room with sasha she is fine and sleeps when i am here when i am not she just cries and cries and cries. I thought today was a good day she didnt attack anyone this morning the other cats were growling and hissing at her, I got home from work and let her out about 6 and all hell broke loose again. I have her only on an antibitoic no pain meds anymore and I havent given her the anti depressant for days either. I wish she would get better my other pets are having a hard time with me not being in my room at night. But one step at a time 1 week down and 3-5 more to go. I hope i have the strength to do this

Hang in there both of you, I know how hard it can be too!!
And so right, you have to take care of yourselves too. My kitty boy Toby is sick and sometimes he just sits behind me no matter what I am doing and just cries nonstop until I either take him to the bedroom and lie down with him and pet him, or get him some food. He just wants to be pampered. I love him but sometimes it just drives me crazy too. Speaking of Toby, he just came up here and is rubbing on my shoulder so I have to go LOL- need to wash my hands since I just came out of the FIV kitty room where one of them has a cold. Augh.

My vibes are with you!!!!

No your not and it takes a toll I have like 5 more weeks before we know if she will be better I dont know if I can do another 4 weeks. I was thinking of a barrier but she can jump over gates and stuff so I dont know what to do in that regard. One day at a time

I am so happy to report we had the 1st meet n greet face to face without barriers and there was no hissing or ANYTHING!!! They have been allowed to roam freely today, with me at their every step water bottle in hand, of course
and we have HONESTLY had no issues!! Im not sure if its the stuff but wow, if it is...its the BEST 15 bux we ever spent...course Im not letting my guard down just yet, they have both gone to their favorite sleeping spots...for now....fingers crossed...will keep ya posted!
