l'm not sure if l should post this here or in the Lounge, but our massive ground beef recall, which affects the US too, has now expanded to whole cuts of beef sold over the past month.

l have a link to our HSW site giving the Cdn. info:

http://www.healthandsafetywatch.com/HSWEvents.aspx?EventID=17f49691-c7a1-4a35-8dac-3350a13abaa6

Click the products tab for a list.

And a pdf list for relevant products by province:

http://media3.marketwire.com/docs/CFIA121002.pdf

l'm not sure how those of you in the States get your recall information.

They're recommending up here we just plain don't buy/eat any beef products until this chain of events has been sorted out.

l hope none of you guys are affected with your beef purchases, especially for the kitties, since cooking gets rid of e.coli, but freezing doesn't :(

How does this affect the US? I saw the meat is only produced and distributed in Canada? Am I missing something?

Yeah, sorry. l knew from Facebook (the source of all knowledge) that it had affected 30 states as of a few days ago, when the recall was still only for ground beef.

But l didn't know where to look for US recall information.

Thx AbbysMom

Pretty sure I ate some recalled ground beef. I had 2 packs of ground beef and made tacos and pasta sauce with them.

@catlover, lf you still have the packaging in the house, it would say Establishment 38, or EST. 38, on the package.

l had ground beef from a different establishment, but don't trust that the grocery store packager relabelled it correctly, so l hurled it.

Just a minor point here, but if you cook your meat thoroughly, you'll kill this bacteria.  On cuts of meat, make sure the outside is thoroughly cooked.  That's just good sense, anyway.

Oh, and make sure you're not buying "glued" meat cuts.

The safest thing is to ask where the beef in the store came from. If it is from XL Beef, don't buy it; at least here, the meat managers WILL tell us. The other solution is buy from a local butcher shop or do like I am going to do - switch to bison. .

I don't, but I'm not worried about it. Neither me or my husband got sick from it. I always fully cook my ground beef.
