I'm contemplating some career changes that would likely take me across several states. Do you think it's possible to move my 18 year old boy with me? He's been through 3 moves before but his last one was about 5 years ago.

I don't have anything set in stone but I refuse to move without him so...I'd like to know if this is crazy and will be too stressful for him before I start getting offers and am sad to turn them down! Thanks!

I guess it depends how good of a traveler/mover he is. If he freaks out in the car, or takes months to adjust to a new home, it might be hard on him (I think he could still do it if he's generally healthy, but it would be hard). If he enjoys long car rides and thinks new houses are fun! than I don't think there would be any problem. Most cats fall somewhere in the middle :tongue2:.

I have never moved that far with my cats so I can't say.  I am posting to which you the best in your decision and with your senior cat.

I have done multiple cross country moves with my cats and it has never been much of a problem. They didn't like the car ride and were a little  freaked out at first but they got used to it. I got a big dog crate and put a little litter box, food and water in it with my two cats ( I drove 15 hours each day!). When I finally reached my destination they just seemed really happy to be out of the car. My cats weren't quite as old as yours though so I couldn't say how well he would react. If he is healthy you could talk to the vet about giving him valium or something similar for the ride.
