Hey guys! Sorry I am not around too much lately but I am stuck for ideas on something and thought what better place to ask!

I have a good friend in Afghanistan and I am shipping him a few things, coffee k-cups being the main thing. But I am just wondering what other sort of things you have shipped to friends and family in Afghanistan. He is extremely sad that he can't be home for October, his favorite month and wondered if there is any way he can SMELL the Autumn smells lol. I can't send him candles or any sort of room sprays of course but what is something that I could send that smells nice like that? The place he works there smells bad he says, and he wants something to remind him of October in Ohio. He is in front of a computer most of the day. I thought I would take some pictures of the changing leaves. But the "smells" really has me stumped. Can you ship them cookies or food? I have no idea how long it takes to get there.

Any help or ideas appreciated :)

Thanks!!

The Postal Service offers an APO/FPO Flat Rate box--$13.45 no matter how heavy. Customers tell me that the timing is highly variable, anywhere from 10 days to 5 weeks (this depends on reliability/safety of transport in the area at the time), but average seems to be about 2 weeks. Non-perishable food is OK (except no pork products to those countries :/), no tobacco or alcohol, nothing that would be damaged/melted/exploded by high heat, and no aerosols.

Info on general shipping restrictions: https://www.usps.com/ship/can-you-ship-it.htm?

Specifically to Iraq/Afghanistan: https://www.usps.com/ship/apo-fpo-guidelines.htm

At work, we made up "care packages" for two of our co-workers on active duty.  We sent toothpaste, canned food (like Ravoli), gum, and I am thinking hard candy that wasn't as likely to melt.

How about those car air fresheners? I think Yankee candle has some and maybe they have a pumpkin, etc scent.

The Yankee Car Jars are a good idea!

I'm trying to think what I used to send DH....  I dont think I did any food stuff; but if it's packaged right you can send things.

I know when we've done packages at church we put some snack things, puzzle books, magazines and sometimes silly stuff...like a superball. lol

It's been years since DH was military so I don't remember about that part of the world; but I know when my BFF was overseas (Japan) it could take up to a month to get her a box.  I usually used the flat rate (APO) ones.  Be prepared to fill out the customs form, listing what all is in there.

Yankee car jars?? Man I don't even know what that is! Is it wax though? Because I would be afraid that would melt.

Thanks everyone for your help so far!!
