We have had many cats over the years and have never had a problem with their eating habits.  Four and a half months ago, our outdoor kitties had a litter of kittens and the runt took a long time to ween, but now will only eat cheese and milk.  We know this is not good for him, but we don't want to starve him.  We have taken him to the vet several times and she says that she has never seen anything like this, but that he will not get the nourishment that he needs if he doesn't eat the proper food.  He is the sweetest kitten and is full of energy, but we want to make sure that he is healthy and we don't know what to do.  We have tried nearly every brand of food on the market, we've tried to mix the cheese in with the food, we've tried everything, but he refuses to eat anything beside cheese and milk.

Please help...we don't know what else to do...and I'm so afraid he'll have health problems if we can't get him to eat properly!  At this point we are desperate to find a solution!

What foods have you tried? As in, which brands, wet or dry? Have you tried offering him some fresh raw meat? Does he have outdoor access? I would think if so, he's likely augmenting his diet with mice.

Thanks for responding!  We have literally tried just about every kitten wet food on the market.  The vet even gave us some of that critical care kind, I forget the actual brand...and he won't eat any of it!  A while back we tried some raw beef, which he wouldn't eat, maybe we should try again and some others.  We don't know if we should stop giving him any milk or cheese and see if he will eventually eat, but we're afraid that he just won't eat.  Again, we have had so many cats over the years and have never had any problems like this!  My cat will only eat seafood, but that is about the extent of the food issues!

What kind of milk are you giving him?  I would at least give him KMR or that type, so it's fortified.  And you said you've tried mixing cheese into food, but that didn't work.  What kind of cheese are you feeding him?  Have you tried sprinkling parmesan cheese (like Krafts from the green can) onto stinky wet food to see what happens?

A lot of cats who eat raw really don't like beef, but chicken is usually accepted (cut into strips, nut chunks...at least not for a kitten).  What about tuna?  Have you tried that?  If you can get him to eat tuna, then maybe you could feed him some fish cat foods.  There aren't that many choices of "kitten food", so I would branch out to CAT food.  I think the real difference is the amount of protein and calories, so if you can find anything he'll eat, just feed him more of it.

Wow, this really is one for the books!
