Hi all

I just wanted to see other people's experince with post-urinary blockage recovery.

Jeeves was unblocked last week and cathetorized from tuesday until Thurs with IV. He was released on Friday night with antispasmotics and new urinary SO food.  Over the weekend he peed a couple times a day -- not huge pees but about 1/2 the size of a golf ball.  Last night I cleaned the litter pan and when I got up there was a decent size pee in the litter pan,  a huge yellow pee on the floor and a pinkish pee on the hall floor.  He then spent about 1.5 hours going back and forth to the litter pan, just dribbling a bit of pee each time. I called the vet who suggested I take him in, to get his bladder checked and luckily it's not blocked.  However, they prescibed some antibiotics for any infection that might be lingering and said I shouldn't worry too much about the bloody urine and dribbling as its probably just still sore from the bladder distention.

Does anyone have other experiences of blood in the urine, lots of dribbling after blockage is removed with a cathetor? I just want to feel a bit better that this will go away with time and with the antibiotics.

I don't know about cats, but that is what it is like for humans.  I was sore for about 2 weeks.  It seemed like I had to go every 5 minutes and just got dribbles.

Does anyone else have any experience with the recovery period?  He's still peeing some decent size pees, with the occasianal bout of increased trips to the litter pan with some bloody dribbles.  I feel so bad for him that he's not feeling well  :(
