I took in a 7 or 8 mos old kitten he had collars on but remained unclaimed and at my house for over a month outside. He was hungry etc etc so I took him in. Will bring him to the vet soon. I was wondering if he was fixed i thought he was but started to feel the puffy are. There was nothing there except puffiness. I assume he was fixed?? And if so I would assume he had shots??? I'm sort of afraid of the vet as they will give him shots again which I do not believe he needs. He will be remaining indoors?

Never assume anything.  I think protocol is if you dont know, you vaccinate especially if he has been outside.  But you can take him in and see if he has a microchip.

I agree with becbec709, you can't assume anything, because the owners may have just gotten the kitten (especially if he is only seven to eight months old) and hadn't had him neutered or vaccinated before he got out.
Also, you want to make sure that this is not someone's cat that got lost, and the owner is searching for him. Put up posters, etc. around the area because someone could be severely missing their kitty! You are doing such a good thing bringing him in, you must have such a big heart! His past owner may not know he is in good hands and may be worrying. Also, for the is-he-neutered-and-vaccinated issue - take him to the vet. Get him scanned for a microchip ASAP, and the vet will also let you know if he is neutered. The vet can run a titer test to see if he needs to be vaccinated as well. Good luck!

If he's neutered (have the vet confirm this!), he almost certainly has been vaccinated as well (a lot of vets won't do surgery on an unvaccinated cat). So I probably wouldn't do the FVCRP combo vaccine (and definitely not the FeLV vaccine!). But you'll have to get a rabies vaccine done in your name for legal reasons :/. Also have the vet scan for a microchip.

Did go to the vet. Tests tests test that was the lecture I got. He is about 10 months or 12 months old. he was fixed. I believe this year so I wanted to wait till he was given ANOTHER rabies. He just lectured me instead of really looking at the cat. I have had cats my whole life and I know whats what. To give another rabies when I'm sure he has had one recently why give another. Cat is staying inside. It just killed me he barely looked at the cat. He did an ear Cytology which I believe he did not need most vets can tell if ear infection or mites, which in the end was neither. Gave me the Epi-Otic advanced for cleaning. Vets are worse than DRS for people. He could have been nice and said you could pick up the epi-optic and your local pet store. On line i see it for 6.00 dollars he charged me 30.43?? or in a local pet store for 13.00. He didn't care about me he only cared about his money and how much he can make. Also previous cat which was on his death bed and was a feral he gave ANOTHER rabies when he had just had one 3 months earlier after he was neutered. I told him he did not need it but he gave it anyhow to a half dead cat. Test came back cat was dying from kidney failure but he shot him up with another rabies and covenia before test came back. I took him in for a week cat was very happy but had to put him down. So you wonder why I do not trusts VETS!!!!
