I have a kitty that has terrible allergies.
He sneezes a lot, water eyes, and his eyes are so itchy and he has scratched so much that the hair is gone around his eyes and they are all raw and red.  After speaking with the Vet, he suggested an over the counter medication.  ZYRTEC 5 mg.  I bought ZYRTEC  (make sure ti is NOT ZYRTEC D) and had to split the pills in half.  I give him a pill a day and noticed an improvement within 24 hours.  It has been 4 days now and the redness is gone around his eyes and the sneezing has stopped.  WOW!  What a difference!!!!

That's interesting! My vet only recommended Benadryl or chlortrimeton, but that was a while back. Abby occasionally takes chlortrimeton. It would be kind of weird for me and the cat to both be taking Zyrtec. I could buy in bulk though. :lol3:

Several years ago, my vet recommended Claritin (loratadine) for my girl with allergies and herpes.  It's been a lifesaver!  We give her 1/4 - 1/2 of a 10 mg once daily.  Zyrtec tends to make kitties drowsy, which I'm not a fan of, so we're sticking with Claritin, but if the Zyrtec is working for you, then keep using it.

That is funny because I take ZYRTEC as well....and I bought a HUGE bottle from AMAZON.com!!!     Also, it doesn't seem to bother my kitty as far as him being drowsy.  It has been a miracle drug for him!!!
