Question of the day - Saturday, September 29th

Good morning

We have a new person at my work.  He has an interesting accent and I just couldn't place it.  It turns out that he's actually from South Africa.  And it made me think:

What is your favorite accent?

I love the Irish accent.  I also like the Scotish and Russian accents as their the only ones I can accurately imitate

I love the broad highland scottish accent and the nice soft Irish one to

 British, French, & Italian.   

Irish and Scottish. My mom's friend was from Ireland (grew up with RIchard Harris...oh the stories she would tell!) and I could listen to her for hours just to hear her accent. 

Kenyan, I think, because it's so musical, yet very easy to understand.

Probably the Appalachian American accent... it's similar to a regular southern US accent, but they have a very particular way of speaking back in the hills that can make them very hard to understand for outsiders. I love it though.

If you watch Top Gear UK, they went on a road trip in season 15 that took them through the Appalachians. They had to stop at a garage for new tires, and they COULD NOT understand the people there, even though they all spoke English. That's how different the accents are. :lol3:

Scottish, I think. And South African is interesting, too.

But I live in the least accected area in the U.S.! So other than a bit of a Minne-soh-tah accent, I don't hear them too often, dontcha knoh .

Love an Irish accent, probably because my family is Irish   I don't have the accent myself but my grandfather had such a strong Irish accent.  Everyone loved to hear him tell stories, they just sounded so much cooler coming from him

A college grad friend of mine is from South Africa and I love his accent too!  He's an actor and is a master of imitating different accents, you would never really know where he was from

I have a few.  Irish and Southern are my favorites.

Russian!!! and Polish. I have a couple of Polish neighbor's. I always enjoy chatting with them.
